I don't think Gemini got the memo when I asked for a Lumo train in Kings Cross station with passengers clamouring to get on.

It has kind of put it in an early FirstGroup livery, but the HST seems to be a bit weird at the front. Looks like a cross of a HST and an IÉ DMU. Kings Cross is OK-ish, though.

Thanks @Steddenm the HST power car's bodyside has come out better than those I've achieved these past two weeks. All mine had power cars with passenger windows! I had several split-windscreen renders, too!
The light clusters: yes, I had lots of images created like that - my 43038 image (post 35) took 20+ attempts to get it "right".

An ask - for your fabulous "never wazza" design trains on AI renders, I'd appreciate you instead posting those at:
That keeps them distinct from this thread's aim, which is to show AI results that look "close to real thing". Many thanks.

Here's a half-decent Met Camm class 101 DMU from Grok. Tending to long train syndrome in the top image but that seems mostly to be poor perspective rendering making the coaches toward the rear look too long. I asked for the guard to be on the platform but the AI didn't infer the train should thus be adjacent to the platform. Anyway, lets just say he's another uniformed staff member watching the shunt movement on the middle siding.

A bit of depot drama today...

You should've painted the other one - one green loco, two red faces. I wonder if they'll just swap over the TOPS identities...

West Coast woe - as if WCRC didn't have enough to deal with, 37668 and 37669 refits might get delayed due to cable theft.

Spruce up sees Neville Hill's IC unique liveried 43038 given a once-over in the washer. Those workers will get a soaking...

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

All thar glitters - dawn frost's sparkling ice crystals welcome a pair of 37s with a train of logs.

The one with 37s on the viaduct is nice. The liveries stamp it in a certain era but the digital style colours and sharpness show that it’s not from back then (as well the strange differences once you do a double take).

Glorious Devon - inspired by, rather than trying to  be, the line between Starcross, Dawlish and Teignmouth -
1) One of Laira's 37/5s takes a long train of spoil northward. The loco wears a "what if" livery, similar to Laira's "depot pet" 08641 in the late-1980s.
Those who follow thread Making a Start in O Gauge might just notice the guest house on the right. "Cowley's Shed B&B". ;)

2) Very different conditions, as a storm wave erupts from an under-wall gulley and back over the passing IET.

(as well the strange differences once you do a double take).
It's a limitation with current (Google Gemini) image-creation algorithms. I'm so glad I only do this thread for a bit of fun!

Harboured memories - a nod to Cockwood, Dawlish Warren:
1) Tide out: the gulls and curlews probe for fish, unfazed by the passage of a DB 66.
That boat's name sounds familiar, @Cowley :D
2) Tide in: a FGW single car unit passes by, on an Exeter to Penzance local. Gemini is adamant a 153 looks like a 156!

That fishing boat's in trouble
Yes, it's dragged its anchor - it's far closer to the shore than I'd instructed Gemini to put it! :D

Hopefully it was well anchored; but it's far closer to the shore than I instructed Gemini to put it! :D

These are brilliant. Love the boat name!

I do like that, @Iskra 8-) I wonder how closely it matches to... your layout backscene. :D

Gorge-ous day - inspired by Lune Gorge, a brace of EMD 12cyl power plants reverberate noises around a valley with a heavy intermodal freight.

For good measure - Network Rail's New Measurement Train reflects on being held at a red. The section ahead will clear quicker than that weather...

Some well-known locations seem rendered pretty accurately by Google Gemini's AI algorithms:
- I had good results for Glenfinnan Viaduct but the AI created 26 and 156 on it were ruddy awful!.
- My "Devon" images, Gemini generated me a few of Dawlish which looked just like the stucco fronted sea-facing houses, on the road between station and tunnel; but the AI rendered 47 and 50 sucked!

Liking the advert. ;)

Why do these things sometimes throw up old fashioned things, like the tractor, old cars, old fashioned stations etc?

Big Beinn - Beinn Dorain and Beinn Odhar dominate the vista from a West Highland Line service, in the hands of "ScotRail retro repaint" 37409. A nose corner's had a touch-up after a shunt-scuff; and I think its driver has the wrong lights "on"...

Gold Cup - Cheltenham Race Day's visitors return on charter services to Paddington, as workers make their way home on the waiting GWR 800 IET and 166 Turbo.

Ah, I described all those things to the AI image generator. :)
The descriptive info I've input, is as detailed as I can make it.
AI algorithms do sometimes add errant things, such as those "streetlights on top of canopy" spotted by @eastwestdivide

I have an old computer and don't have the time :'(
I use my mobile phone and I give no more than 1 hour in the evenings to this.
30% of that time spent on thinking of the composition, then for writing detailed descriptive instructions.
The other 70% is for repeating the "generate AI image" step (which takes 20-ish seconds a go) until I am happy with the result.

How did someone get from the first (original, off the web) image to the second (enhanced/manipulated) version?
I do wonder if the "doctored" image's creator snipped out the "real" Hall image using Photoshop or similar; and then added it to their (or an existing) AI image (those carriages and that trackside statue look decidedly faked).

It was definitely done using an AI app, I just don't know which one. I can probably find out though. There's a lot of things look iffy I agree, not least the extra track on the left!

In the four-foot -
1) The Bletchley to Bicester route provides the inspiration for this 66-hauled railtour. I hope the drainage problem is sorted.
2) A warning's blast from the locomotive, as its moonlit train hugs the rugged coast.

Oh yes - I missed that on my first look! :D

Yeah NR definitely wouldn't let those enthusiasts off

Here's mine from ChatGPT

Prompt: Create an image of a Class 170 in ScotRail Saltire livery

Judging by the relative roof height, the OO scale loco appears to be hauling HO Mk1s.
