Anyone know why nothing seems to be moving in or out of York at the moment ?

False alarm - everything seems to be on the move again now.

There's a fatality at Stevenage. I would imagine with there not being many through platforms at Doncaster to recess trains (realistically only platform one can be used otherwise the Hull to Sheffield will be stopped if they use platform three to stable trains) they're holding trains at York for now where there's more connections onwards.

Grand Central appear to have cancelled 1A60 their first Sunderland to London service at York, which seems hugely premature given where the incident is, and the only real onward ticket acceptance appears to be via Manchester on two specific Avanti services from there...

Probably the best course if action given that there would be congestion further south and EMR are in severe disruption too

Sensible thing to do.
Line blocked how minimum of 2 hours, multiple other trains already stuck, held on platforms etc.
NR will not want any other trains heading to the area due to congestion at other stations on route and with no route to London available for the GC service.

Other TOCs will be doing exactly the same and cancelling some services from their origin.

This morning is a good example of when universal ticket acceptance should be announced.

0930 and both the ECML and MML are severely disrupted in and out of London.

Just get passengers moving any way possible. Euston with Avanti and LNWR, Marylebone with Chiltern, even Liverpool Street with Greater Anglia to Cambridge then via Ely to Peterborough.

The 'BLOK' notes in the signal berths around Stevenage have been removed, trains are departing King's Cross, and some signals are showing green around the affected area so hopefully things start moving again reasonably soon.

When we got past York, there were around three passenger trains queued on the up slow which was quite unusual. I wonder if there was some sort of track defect as well.

That certainly wasn't the case when I posted earlier, it was as I posted with two specified Avanti services just before and just after 1100 listed.

Only for LNER passengers. Open access operators' passengers are once again being told to get lost, in as many words.

These kinds of tickets acceptance shenanigans need to stop.

So I and others were pointed towards St Pancras and a connection at Derby onto 1S41 Plymouth-Edinburgh. I'm on it now - 8 coaches with 4 locked out of use. People struggling to even board at Chesterfield. I'm bailing out and getting a Northern to Doncaster instead.
