The base pay rates of East Coast Buses and Lothian Country are the same however the conditions are better and I believe the overtime rate is slightly better.

I’d like to think not, but I suspect you might be right. I’m not sure how people can get that easily confused, but absolutely people would.
I know what you mean. I think it's more for people who aren't locals or are not used to the bus system here that would read it and start to wonder if it affect them so probably will make things confusing for them. Better to just have simple information first I guess.
I seen that pass me this morning and assumed it was just a swap/breakdown. Interesting.
Heard somewhere that the X27/8 are now going to be limited stop in Sighthill, may be this or some route changes. Also speculation about a Livingston Village service reroute, might be the X27.
It's a full day working from what I can see. 936 is operating it, starting with a duplicate from Queensferry and then running two trips to Barnton and back before pausing at Central. 586 then filled the gap of two round trips while 936s driver was taking a break and 936 has now come back out from Central to provide the remainder of the service, which is another two round trips to/from Barnton and then a trip to Queensferry.
It speeds it up. Whilst the stops are well used it often gets stuck behind local buses which dwell for longer than the X27/X28 do. I would be disappointed if the stops at the college/university were taken out though.
I agree these routes are well used in Edinburgh and if they are to take them away maybe they ought to bring back an X25 every 15 mins or 30 mins from Heriot-Watt University to Waterloo Place but serving the same stops as the 25 up to Hermiston Park & Ride and then the same stops as the current X27 and X28.
According to the online timetables, there are currently six return workings between St Andrew's House and Barnton in the course of the day. It would be good to see some of these retained outwith Festival time.
It wouldn’t surprise me if it were changed to match the old X25 actually. In other words it’s non stop from the University to Fountainpark and vice versa.
It depends what the usage is and more importantly why. From experience a number of the stops along that stretch are just local journeys.
A lot of journeys from Sighthill, Broomhouse/Parkhead, Saughton Mains and Chesser are to the city centre. I've even seen people let the city buses pass to get the express buses. It's a journey of about 15 mins vs 25 mins on other buses at off peak times. Sometimes you can reach The Exchange in 10 mins.
Very rare to get someone from Sighthill going to/from the other way, it just makes the buses even more late than necessary. I can confirm that the route will be limited stop through Sighthill.
The 72 is hopelessly unreliable and it’s already well known that it is too long and has no ability to regain time without additional resources. If it’s being cut back to Winchburgh then I suspect that’s largely down to this. Demand to Kirkliston as I understand it is very low.
I believe it’s also to make it possible for the frequency increase.
