Think something has happened to 807010 this evening.

This service has been stuck just north of Rugby for an hour.

I’m guessing it’s been diverted via the WM due to issues on the Trent Valley route.

Nothing has happened to the train.

A look on National rail disruption page and Avanti twitter shows that due to trespassers on the railway between Tamworth and Nuneaton, all lines are blocked.

Train services running through these stations may be delayed or diverted via Birmingham New Street.

It won't be diverted via New Street.

As of 21:47 1F36 was queuing on the approach to Tame Bridge Parkway, behind a couple of local services.

Thanks folks. Was waiting at Crewe to see it. Would happily have taken a 350 slightly in the way view.

Thought the 807's were going to be used on Euston-Blackpool services, as well as Euston-Liverpool and Euston-Birmingham/Wolverhampton.
The end-state deployment map I posted upthread (https://www.railforums.co.uk/thread...5-807s-hitachi-at300-sets.214752/post-6660417) suggests the idea is 2 805s running a day to Blackpool.

Of course, Shrewsbury is a bit out of date. However, the service which used to start in the morning at Shrewsbury is actually operated by a pair of 805s, with the evening equivalent going over to 2*805 operation in mid September. This is down to Euston-Birmingham increasing back to its pre-COVID frequency of 3tph all day until 19:00 southbound and 20:00 northbound, which will also see all of the Euston-Birmingham semifast services operated by 80x until the service reduces in frequency in the evenings, as confirmed by using the Avanti booking site to view the allocated type of train.

That's what Avanti twitter stated!

It appears that 807010 is currently stuck at Hemel…
Initial reports were of an alleged banging noise coming from the roof of the train whilst it was on the move. (was going to be inspected upon arrival at Euston) But since then it's alleged it may have also caused damage to an Axle Counter.

It was the axle cap (on the train) and not an axle counter.
Should be a quick repair and back out…

Do we really need a post each time an 805:807 gets a fault?

We certainly do not when it's a 390.

Now the fleet is all in service, maybe a time for this thread to close?

Because to be fair this is about the progress of the 805/807 fleet, not the 390, and inevitably you might get a few teething troubles that affect the fleet's progression. It's arguably a setback on progress to have an axle fault and something worth noting for anyone looking back on this in future. Indeed once these initial problems are rectified and the fleet continues running as normal that you might be able to say it's progress is complete.

Trains get axle faults and many other faults throughout the life of the train. It really isn't 'news worthy'.

Agreed. While the fleet is still new it is worth having this thread to report on them.

Yep, I did notice the MU speed signage. Apparently at Bletchley, 805/807s are permitted to do 120mph. Wonder when they’ll reach their top speed of 125mph…
There are places already signed for 125mph, more to the northern end of the route (up to Weaver) and more due to signed in this weekend around MKC.

Did notice a difference in speed (was on 807004 today) as we left Watford Junction, we seemed to be going slightly faster than 110mph until we were held at Cheddington and Leighton Buzzard for a good few minutes due to a trespassing incident at Bletchley.

The new speeds are not being driven at yet.
Two more weekends for commissioning and driver briefs to be done.
Cl 805/807 still running PS.

If you did notice a difference, then the driver might have some questions to answer!

'Seemed' so no proof you were doing that speed?
Did you track it on a speed app?
Or did you just think it was going faster than normal?

I just thought it was going slightly faster than normal (around 115mph). Will download a speed app to justify my theory the next time I’m on an 805/807. But anyhow, I’m guessing that it’s not long till they reach their MU Speeds.

Also saw the MU Speed Signage at Bletchley as mentioned.

The units are allowed to run above PS speed. There are site a few sites where the MU signs are yet to be uncovered so there will be no 805/807 running above 110mph yet.

The 1600 Euston to Chester today had an issue with the PIS system, which said that we were calling everywhere between Euston and Crewe, and the train manager apologised that she couldn't switch it off - it included Harrow and Wealdstone, which I was surprised was in the recorded announcements as well. I wonder when the last time an Inter City train made a scheduled stop at Harrow was?

Avanti/Virgin have used Harrow & Wealdstone a couple of times in recent years, mainly when there has been engineering works at Euston.

About five or six years ago Avanti (Virgin) terminated at Harrow when Euston was blocked for Engineering work. Units went to Wembley on the Relief lines to change ends and come back to work north…
Might be longer than six years.. but it did happen.

GPS works on 80x units but not pendolinos or class 220/1.

I find GPS does work on 390s provided you have a full window if you're in the saloon. It works without issue in the vestibules. It also works well in the vestibules on all of 220/1/2.
