So I'm on the very nice (except the seats are rock hard despite the fact they recline) class 10 car 730 1619 from Euston to Northampton, sat in the rear coach. On departing MKC, the automated announcer says "The next station is Northampton. This station has a short platform. To leave the train please move forward to the front 7 coaches". Now to me this makes no sense, we are booked to arrive platform 2, if the last 3 coaches are not in the platform they will be fouling the points south of the station. And platform 2 is plenty long enough for a 10 car train surely?

Let's see what happens when we get there.

And crikey the ride on the down slow around hanslope is bumpy in this train!!

At the moment there's a bug which is causing it to announce short platform warnings based on the shortest platform at the next station stop. Presumably one of the bays is quite short. The doors will release on all coaches when you get there.

The bug defaults to platform 5 at Northampton which is 7 coaches only, and London Euston it says the same because of platforms 9 + 10 which are also 7 car.

So the guard just finished his ticket check after going through Hunsbury Hill Tunnel. He disappeared into the back cab. The train pulled into Northampton P2 and the doors did not open. He left the back cab, walked along the platform towards the front of the train. The information screens were still saying "We are approaching Northampton". About 2 minutes later the automated announcement said "we have arrived at Northampton" and the all the doors were unlocked. So something weird happened and the cust^H^H^H^Hpassengers looked very confused.

Did no doors open ? Or did the front 7 open and the rear 3 did not ?

Blimey a ticket check on LNR south of Northampton

Hopefully on a more serious note, hopefully the bug will get resumed sooner rather than later

I've had a ticket check on the last 3 out of 4 journeys. And they always check my railcard too.
