I am aware of the Timetable World website but sadly their library of WTTs is somewhat patchy. Does anyone know if the NRM have copies of these documents?

Firstly does anyone have access to a map that defines the areas covered by the various passenger and freight books. I am trying to track a particular train in 1981 that was one of the summer seasonal services. I would be particularly interested in anyone that has access to the area YG for summer 1981.

The map for section YG in 1981 is here, though unfortunately the WTT is sold:

  • WORKING TIME TABLE of PASSENGER and PARCEL Trains
  • Section YG
  • DONCASTER, STAINFORTH and SHEFFIELD to HEALEY MILLS and LEEDS
  • DIGGLE and HEBDEN BRIDGE to BRADFORD (EXCHANGE), LEEDS, NORMANTON and GOOLE & BRANCHES

I have a YG for the previous year, 12/5/80 to 10/5/81.
OK. Well if the train ran that would be good!

The one I am looking for was a Sheffield - Blackpool North service loco hauled.

I think the route it took was Sheffield - Barnsley - Crigglestone Jn - Healey Mills - Thornhill - Copy Pit line - Burnley - Preston - Blackpool.

I noticed a few odd ball ones going different ways west and so it is frustrating not to be able to follow it.

In 1981 it left Sheffield at 0922, calling at Barnsley at 0943/0945 getting to Blackpool at 1222. It doesnt seem to have stopped anywhere else!

This is where Passenger Services over Unusual Lines (PSUL) is your friend.

On Eastern Region p8 see entries E.59 and E.61.

On London Midland Region p17 see entry M.76.

Well thanks guys. I never really explored what the BLS did so that was a useful publication.

Here's 1M06 from the 1980/81 timetable, I missed it yesterday for some reason. This was the 09:22 Sheffield-Blackpool North.

1O11 07:08 Bradford Exchange to Weymouth also requested.
