Line is blocked between Ashford and Canterbury according to station staff at Ashford Intl. All services being diverted via Dover.

Unrelated points failure near Bexhill has also closed the line between Ashford and Eastbourne.

I'm caught up in the middle of this, currently stranded in Ashford waiting for the delayed 15:24 to Eastbourne, which might never come.

Anyone have any more information?

There is a train on its way to Ashford now. It is between Three Oaks and Winchelsea currently. Once that gets to Ashford it will reverse and form an Eastbourne service. The trains are heavily delayed but they do appear to be running.

Looks like the Southern train forming the 1524 from Ashford International to Eastbourne is running up to 35 minutes down on its inbound journey. Question is, will it then go straight back out as the delayed 1524 to Eastbourne, or might you be having to wait until 1624? Either way, a delay of 15-29 minutes or more seems likely, which should mean some 'Delay Repay' is due.

I believe the 15:24 will just depart delayed. It has a fourteen minute scheduled turnaround at Ashford so it should only be about twentyfive minutes late on its return journey. The unit 171811 is on the 15:24 service and is at Ham Street now. So i reckon it will probably depart Ashford around 15:50 which should give it a five or six minute turnaround.

The following unit 171803 is on the 16:24 and looks to be making up time. It is only about ten minutes late now and Ashford has a fourteen minute turnaround. So i believe the 16:24 should depart Ashford on time as the following unit. That train looks fine now.

I'm on that now. Driver blames a signal failure at Hastings.

Possibly heat related? There were multiple signalling issues yesterday afternoon on the south western which were being blamed on the temperature, and today doesn't look too much better.

I believe the 15:24 will just depart delayed.

It did. Departed Ashford at 1550 (with a 26 minutes delay) and eventually arrived Eastbourne at 1705 (some 20 minutes down). Some intermediate stations look to have been skip-stopped.

Yup. Non-stop Hastings to Eastbourne.

After all of this, I'm still going to be even later due to some form of disruption on the Brighton Main Line

Does anyone know what is blocking the line between Ashford and Canterbury West and where? It's not a level crossing incident, is it?

I was on the 1537 St Pancras-Margate via Canterbury West and we were detrained at Ashford as it was being diverted via Dover. We caught the following Charing Cross stopper to Canterbury.

It looks like quite a few previous service through Canterbury West had been held there and lost more time around Sturry and Minster.
