Muang Xai?
Edit - didn't realise Superalbs had posted earlier with Phonhong! Both stations are virtually identical with a Radio Mast over to the right of the station. However the window arrangement on the right hand side of the station for Muang Xai doesn't match the Photo from Chrisjo, whereas Phonhong does. We await confirmation!

Wow, that was a good one. My first instinct was somewhere in Tibet or Xinjiang. Glad I held off with a guess until that clue.

The train is from Polregio, that narrows it down a tweeny bit.
