DLR Stock Withdrawal and Scrapping

Out of curiosity, does anyone know which B90, B92 and B2K Stocks have been withdrawn and/or scrapped beside 39, 88 and 98 following the announcement that the B23 Stock are coming into service in the upcoming months.

Those three plus 38 are the only ones scrapped so far, although I believe some more have been stood down (I don’t currently have numbers).

Damm, was hoping to catch all the B90 stock before they got withdrawn. The only ones im missing is 55 and 80. I wonder if they have been stood down.

I assume 30 / 97 / 123 have been stood down? I’ve done no end of London trips and not seen those on my travels.

123 is a B07 stock, most likely undergoing maintenance.

55 is my last B92 and enquiries have been made.

Not a guess- I should have said "so long as the testing planned over the next few weeks all goes to plan," but info can also be found in the TfL Board Report.

That's only some of them, there was a total of 94 B90/B92/B2K units. They will all be withdrawn once the B23 fleet has fully entered service

To avoid confusion, the 33 and 94 are units, so normally operate as triple units (double units on some lines). The new trains are 5 section complete trains so operate as single whole train.

So need 11 new trains to replace 33, and 31-32 new trains to replace 94. However the order for B23 type included a growth build to cut crowding taking number to 43 new trains. Later another 11 trains were funded from a Housing development fund for enhancement/extension taking total upto 54 new trains.

Once the new fleet are all delivered, there will be a surplus until the enhanced services related to the housing commence. Potentially some of the 24 B07, and/or 31 B09 units (sometimes all grouped as B07 type) will be stored for a while. They might also get a midlife refurbishment (midlife will be roughly 2026-2028 anyway), or repaint to match new units. There is nothing in public domain about when the extensions, enhancements or any refurbs might commence.

Thanks for the replies ... I am now understanding the plan!

I always assumed that all the older trains were going to be phased out, so was baffled when TfL seemed to be suggesting something different.

It also seems logical the the B07's (and B09 subset) will have their mid-life refurbishment whilst there are some (nominally) spare B23's to cover for their absence. As for repaint, well I suppose it could happen ... we shall have to wait and see!!!

Just going to slightly revive this. Does anyone have an update on withdrawn/ scrapped stock? Can only confirm 06, 24, 70 and 93 being still active as of last Tuesday (14th October), as I have got those 4 for haulage.

I was just about to ask the same. I was hoping to pop into London next week to get a last bit of older DLR haulage before they go. I missed out on 3 of the 4 original withdrawals (38, 39[h], 88, 98) and I'd got down to 6 B90/B92/B2K for haulage (06, 11, 55, 56, 78, 80) and note 55 and 80 have been reported above as 'gone to the razor blade factory' which is a sad. I only need 1 [136] of the B07/09s...hopefully plenty of time to get that.

I spent 45 minutes on Shadwell on Monday and saw both 56 and 136.

Have been looking for 30, 97 and 123 personally without success.
