Eastbourne to Chichester BOJ

In August, I will be using an off-peak day return ticket from Eastbourne to Chichester. I want to break my return journey at Bognor, Littlehampton, and Brighton.
I am aware that Bognor and Littlehampton are on "spurs" from the direct routes, so can I BOJ at these stations on my ticket? TIA.

You cannot double back; you can't visit Ford twice and/or visit Barnham twice.

So, you can do Littlehampton providing you only go via Ford once.

It's impossible to get to Bognor and back without doubling back, as it's simply a branch from Barnham.

If you proceed directly to Littlehampton (avoiding Ford) and then proceed directly from Littlehampton (via Ford) to Barnham, then you only need a return from Barnham to Bognor ticket, in addition to your Eastbourne to Chichester Ticket.

However, if you want to double-back from Ford, you would also need a Ford to Eastbourne return ticket.

I've always reckoned that as Littlehampton is 'in and out' on the half hourly stopping service, it should be acceptable for break of journey. Bognor isn't as it is an obvious dead end. Both stations are gated.

Hi,
Why not get a Southern Day save ticket? It's £26 but will give you unlimited travel where you want to go.

That's a tiny bit more than the £21.20 Eastbourne - Chichester return plus £4.60 Barnham - Bognor return but it gives you a far more flexible ticket.

The Day Saver seems to have more hoops to go through than Crufts, and it also does not offer Railcard reductions, and cannot be purchased on the day of travel.
What are Southern afraid of?

The restrictions are intended to limit the revenue it cannibalises from the "turn up and go" market. However I agree that it should be able to be discounted with Railcards - that is the case for most rangers and rovers, after all.

You are allowed to purchase the Daysave on the day of travel from the Eastbourne or Seaford or Lewes tourist information centres. It is also much cheaper as they still charge £19 adult or £38 group instead of the much higher £26 adult or £52 group online prices. I have also had some success recently of purchasing a daysave on the day from ticket office clerks but it does depend on the clerk.

It has always been like that. I have no idea why. The tourist information centres have always been cheaper. I remember the same thing a decade ago. Maybe because most people buy them online (as that is where they are advertised most) they decide to charge more. Yes it is indeed the exact same ticket.
