I did think it was a 30 minute delay when I was on the train but it was actually 29 3/4 minutes delay according to real time trains, and seemingly with Avanti delay repay it fits their lowest threshold. Apologies as this is more a vent at this stage but this does seem harsh to not round up to 30 minutes compensation. I have appealed but I feel the margin of error could be standard rounding up.

Unfortunately wherever the border sits some people will be on one side and some on the other. Whilst RTT etc. isn't always right, unless you have evidence of your own that the doors released after the 30 minute mark, I suspect you will struggle to get anything.

There has to be a cutoff. If 29 3/4 minutes was allowed then people who were 29 2/4 minutes delayed would say the same thing.

You win some, you lose some! At least you get compensation for a 15-minute delay which you wouldn't get on some other train companies.

Tha wouldn’t help I had a Delay Repay denied even though I recorded a video on my phone showing the train still moving down the platform and clearly showing the platform clock but they denied the claim as the Indusrty system timings showed the train arrived before the threshold due to offset timing berth

The industry data is merely indicative and in no way overrides evidence of the actual arrival time.

Not according to Avanti, thier view is Industry data is absolute even with video evidence to the contrary

That view is not going to hold up in Court, not least because the NRCoT and their Passenger Charter don't say that industry data is used as the basis (let alone that it's definitive).

Of course it depends on how far you're willing to pursue it. You may have success challenging them at the Rail Ombudsman.

Be quite amusing trying this on the Borders Railway, where the trains are often marked on RTT as having passed a station in the northern half before they've even arrived.
