An extra 2500 judging by Instagram, don't have a link as it's word of mouth and I don't have Instagram but good either way!

Assume they've done some work and realised they can safely accommodate more.

Not good for train overcrowding on the day, but good for those wanting to go who haven't got tickets.

Very surprised that 12,500 can be accommodated! Glad I booked the Thursday evening as it looks like the only day when I can actually see anything!
I hope your Thursday evening visit yields an excellent "haul" of photos. I'm unable to go to the event, so I look forward to seeing the photos of others. :)

It takes me back to Merehead open day, June 1989. The five 59/0s were lined up so that people could photograph all five names (the locos were staggered).
One small flaw... many hundress of visitors happily walking past the locos, obscuring at least one nameplates. I must've stood in one spot, swearing, for more than an hour until I got the intended clear shot!

I'm mindboggled how they are going to fit them all and the logistics of it all, so unless each loco is ring fenced in taking photos will need a lot of patience. Last count nearly 60 diesel, 25 Steam plus complete units and trains, wagons and thousands of people! I wonder how many convoys there will be from Kidderminster nearly every operational loco going! for good weather.

If anyone wants information etc about other Rail 200 Events (e.g. Polmadie etc) then please start a new thread as appropriate so as to keep this one free for discussion about "The Greatest Gathering" in Derby.

Thanks :)

Just seen the 2500 extra tickets. Would've liked the Friday/Saturday slots but was too late for that. Sunday one was only available when I booked mine. I also booked train tickets/hotel some weeks ago with the latter offering free breakfast promo. The costs for the hotel was around £20 higher than Thursday/Friday nights but it is what it is.

I also can't go and I'm quite sad - the other events are too out of reach.
I wasn't there but I've heard of Exeter Railfair (that happened in the 90s I think), and that sounded fabulous. They missed a trick doing it again for railway 200.

On 1st May 1994, Exeter's Riverside Yard played host to a two day railfair celebrating 150 years of the city's link with railways.

Following on from my post #36 about convoys leaving from Kidderminster to the Greatest Gathering, the first one left today with 50035/044,58023 sandwiched between the inspirational locos 66710/719. There are also some electric locos from Barrow Hill already at Derby Litchurch Lane.

Both now rectified , I don't remember what number I was meant to put down instead of D7600. D7600 was scrapped in 1985. There were bound to be some mistakes typing out such a long list
This will probably be D6700, the prototype class 37 which is based at the NRM, AKA 37119 or 37350.

43089
43159
I’m not sure where you have seen confirmation of 43089 attending? As far as I know, 43159 has been nominated (as world diesel rail speed record holder), but to be accompanied by AN Other power car.

Good list, you have missed 45000, 45050, 6320 coaches which were announced today by the Dutchess of Sutherland trust. 08721, It is 67005 not 006, the FL 66 is 66501, DC 60 is 60099, there are 2 RA Class 43s going, Loram RGX Rail Grinder, 57314 and 57307. And then the exhibition train with 66710, 66719, 96371, 11092, 11093, 11101, 10406.

Also, seems like D1062 (52) is going. The 125 group will be in 2+4 formation so there will be 4 MK3 coaches with the HST aswell, the exact ones haven't been announced yet though.

Amazingly, there are still tickets available for Friday and Sunday as of 13:45 today. I thought they would all go on Friday.

On most heritage line multiple day major events, Sunday always seems to be quietest day usually l have found .

Yes, I'd like to go to Galas on Sunday sometimes but the miserably late start of the services from Nottingham usually makes it impractical.
