You don't say where you saw it but several mk3s have been going to Brodies at Kilmarnock for yet more corrosion repairs. Trying to keep these rust buckets going is becoming a bigger and bigger issue (and cost).

Interestingly 42035 has been sitting outside Haymarket for a few weeks now, apparently as a christmas tree, but it's shiny clean having not long come back from Brodies.

That one wasn't at Brodies, it's never been used since it was refurbished along with the 3 still at Slateford.
