I want to travel from Letchworth to Kings Cross and then Kings Cross to Moorgate via tube and have been told conflicting information about ticketing. Moorgate is definitely a London Terminal when travelling from Letchworth.

In the past I was told that a Letchworth to London Terminals ticket is sufficient for the whole journey by the twitter team. But currently the same team are saying I need to pay a separate Tube fare on top.

They have cited this URL which states "using national rail services"

Which is correct please? Do I need to pay for the tube on top or is London Terminals ticket OK?

This is an inter available route, and you can travel from Kings Cross to Moorgate on the tube using your London Terminals ticket. There is unfortunately no public source for inter-available routes that I know of.

Thankyou. Do you know if there's anything official that I can screenshot, just in case I do this journey and then get challenged on this?

Not too sure, but the barriers at King's Cross might retain your ticket, and they will lose their validity as you've exited a London Terminal.
If I were you, I might just pay the extra £3 for a ticket to "London Underground Zone 1", just to be sure.

You could, however, change for a train to Moorgate at Finsbury Park, and if you insist on using the interavailability, change for the tube at e.g. Highbury and Islington.

(UPDATE: see post #5)

A ticket between Letchworth and London Terminals is valid on the Underground between Kings Cross and Moorgate (but not valid at Intermediate stations except Old Street). This inter-availability dates back to at least 1976.

The ticket won't work the barriers at Kings Cross St Pancras Underground station but my recent experience there is that staff will let you out if you show them your ticket and say you're travelling to/from Moorgate.

There is no need to pay extra for a ticket to Zone 1.

The information is held on the Internal Knowledge Base website, which in theory is only for internal use.

The internal knowledgebase won't be any help here, because it's London Underground staff you need to convince of the validity. They won't give a damn about anything to do with 'National Rail' because they're not 'National Rail'!

As I said in my experience staff at Kings Cross St Pancras generally know about this inter-availability and will let you through manually. Historically, London Terminals tickets worked the barriers at Kings Cross St Pancras but this was widely abused which is why you have to be let through manually nowadays. There was a 'sticky patch' when the barriers were first re-programmed with not all staff being aware but I've personally had an issue using the easement for the last few years.

If you do encounter issues then just use contactless then complain to TfL and ask for your money back.
