Absolutely unworkable for a trophy parade and really naive
It works for the London NYE celebrations, which is a similar event of a very large amount of people dispersed over a large area, not that i support health & safety further sucking the fun out of everything.

It's worth noting that Palace had a really short parade with various fingers being pointed over why it ended up that way but it's not clear why yet.

Being kettled outside Norwood Junction, occasionally for over an hour, is pretty normal match day experience at Selhurst. Normally I'd head to Thornton Health or Selhurst. On quieter days you could get away with going under the underpass, using the other entrance and skipping the queue.

That’s not a trophy parade in Liverpool to be fair. You’d simply get half a million people in the city centre elsewhere doing their own thing “to be part of the day” as well as half a million on the official route. I would be really sceptical that ticketing the parade would work.

I am not a Liverpool supporter but I do not object to parades and have been out to see those of both Liverpool and Everton over a 60 year period. I live about 300 yards from Queens Drive which was one of the main routes of the parade.

Fans started parking in our roads at 0900 over five hours before the parade was due to pass. So goodness knows what it must have been like in other parts.

After the parade in the city centre, I was shocked to hear of the incident in Water Street and having seen pictures of the city centre my reaction as a citizen and a ratepayer if the city is that any future parades should be banned from the city centre.

Liverpool has miles of dual carriageways, a relic of the days when the trams ran on separate carriageways.

Parades could start in the vicinity of Liverpool Airport and travel via Garston and Allerton to the Allerton Maze to access Queens Drive. A five run up to Utting Avenue to finish at Anfield Stadium were this a car big park.

If Liverpool FC opened up the stadium, it could accommodate up to 60000 people. At least it would preserve our city centre with its listed buildings.

How many listed buildings were damaged?

Maybe the police could have done more with removing parking from residential streets, but no doubt some residents would then complain they could not park at their own houses.

City centres are ideal for parades. Usually that is where the best public transport is and usually there is reduced car access. Plus the city centre businesses benefit. I struggle to see who gains from a parade along a suburban dual carriageway.
