Stansted Airport split fare not found by Trainsplit

I just discovered that some Stansted Express services stop at Stansted Mountfitchet, and an Anytime Day Single from Boundary Zone 6 to there is £13.50, with an additional Anytime Day Single from SST to Stansted Airport costing just £4.60.
This is cheaper than a £21.80 Anytime Day Single from Boundary Zone 6 to Stansted Airport, as well as better in value than the £18.10 Off-Peak Day Single, which at least only has morning peak restrictions.

Why does Trainsplit's algorithm seem to not find that combination, not even in the morning peak, when there is no Off-Peak ticket available?

Also, with the fare not being offered, is there any rule possibly ruling out validity on the split tickets mentioned above?

In that specific query, 3/5 services stop at SST, but yes, most Stansted Express services do not stop there.

(As I recall, it's been a while since this came up), the journey planner doesn't support boundary zone tickets and splits - it looks for normal point to point splits from the last stop in the zones to the destination, and if a through boundary zone ticket is cheaper than that it will be surfaced instead.

Alternatively, you might prefer a ticket to Elsenham or Audley End, which is valid via Stansted Airport.

A ticket to Audley End would be better in the sense that you could produce an itinerary via Stansted Airport to demonstrate the contractual validity of the route. Northbound trains from Stansted don't stop at Elsenham so it's harder to demonstrate that it's a permitted route without delving into the depths of the Routeing Guide.

Thanks, that's useful info. Us Boundary Zone 6ers need to do a little more digging then!
