Entry/exit only stations before/after football matches

A number of NR, TfL and tram stations such as Holloway Road (Arsenal) and Gunnersbury (Brentford) are exit only after football matches while Holt Town and Velopark (Manchester City) are closed completely. And I believe Stadium of Light (Sunderland) can only be used by those heading north while those heading south must use St Peter's.

Are there others? Bordesley (Birmingham City) perhaps?

And what about stations near Wembley such as North Wembley or Stonebridge Park?

Exeter Chiefs for Rugby games have Digby & Sowton for people travelling to/from Exeter and Newcourt for people travelling to/from Exmouth on the Avocet line.

Not a strictly accurate answer to your question but a close enough analogue?

Drayton Park used to be closed both before and after Arsenal home games.

I haven't checked recently to see if that's still the case.

The main stations are Wembley Stadium and Wembley Park. Both have controlled queuing after matches.

Not football but still a sporting event - Haymarket station on the Tyne & Wear Metro becomes exit only for the start of the Great North Run, whilst Jesmond and Chichester close entirely for a few hours.

If we're still talking about Coventry Arena, thought the station has a broadly hourly service, being on the line between Nuneaton and Coventry, just that nothing calls there when there's an event on.

Bordesley is actually the other way around - it gets virtually no service unless there’s football. Whether it’s then entry / exit only, I don’t know.

To add a little to this: Queen Street was open on matchdays until at least 2005, as I used the trick of walking there to beat the queues at Central that summer. I think it was a year later that the closure was introduced, as we were there again the next summer (both times were rugby days by chance) and the screens at Central very prominently stated that Queen Street would be closed.

I used Brentford to catch a train straight after a PL football match last year - it definitely wasn’t exit only!

Certainly for football on a Saturday the service is more or less as usual.

The only difference being pre-game one Nuneaton-bound service is turned at Cov Arena (CAA), reverses and runs empty to Cov and then runs COV - CAA and then (after reversing) CAA - Leamington Spa. Similarly post-game a Leamington service terminates at COV, runs empty back to CAA to form a CAA-COV service and then forms a COV - Nuneaton service to pick up where it would be were it not for the football.

Come to think of it, I do know. Last time I used Bordesley it was against the flow.

Sorry if my wording was confusing - it is Gunnersbury station which is exit only after Brentford games - not Brentford station which is some distance from the Bees new ground. I believe Kew Bridge is too. On my one and only visit I had to walk across the river all the way to Kew Gardens to get the Overground back to Euston.

Sorry, it is my wording that was confusing - I used Gunnersbury station to board a train right after a Brentofrd PL match, last year.

That makes sense, I didn't think Hawkesbury Lane sidings were in any fit state for trains.

There's a trailing crossover with shunt signals (Ground Position Lights) just north of the Hawkesbury Lane level crossing, allowing ECS movements to reverse in either direction. Shown here on Open Train Times' map of the area:

South Bermondsey appears to be largely closed to the public after a match at nearby Millwall has concluded. The only entrance/exit appeared to be the path to the football ground about 500 yards away.

We went there with Pompey a few months ago as away supporters. After the match, we were locked in the ground for around 30 minutes then the only way out was along a fenced walkway to South Bermondsey station where we were frogmarched by the police through the station and up onto the platform, and then put on the first train to London Bridge. No other options apart from being put on a train.

Fairly infuriating for those who drove and had parked nearby or used other non-rail means to get to the match. Or I guess those who lived nearby and wanted to catch a train.

No chance to buy tickets either, which I guess could have been interesting at the ticket barriers at London Bridge - "I do not have a ticket as I was forced onto the train by a uniformed police officer" - not sure if this would be grounds for a penalty fare or worse.
