Unable to reserve seats Copenhagen - Hamburg

Today I bought tickets for my wife and I to travel Copenhagen - Cologne on 10 November, 1st Class.
I used bahn.de as recommended by seat61.
Eurocity 393 to Hamburg, change to ICE613 Hamburg - Cologne
I was able to reserve seats on the Hamburg to Cologne leg but was not given the option for the Copenhagen - Hamburg train.
Is this because the train originates in Denmark, that perhaps the DB site cannot reserve the seats?
Is there some way I could make a seat assignment, perhaps through DSB?

I am new to this as not having traveled by train on the Continent since 1977. Any help would be appreciated.

I would first try contacting DSB but if that fails you could always try getting a reservation from ÖBB!

I know that doesn't sound to make much sense but find your train using their journey planner (https://www.oebb.at/en/) then tick the seat reservation only box and you can book a reservation for 3€.

I have just tested this and DB offers me both trains. There is no seat selector on the DSB train.

Reservations Copenhagen-Hamburg don't seem to be open yet for dates from 1/11 for some reason. Maybe they're expecting engineering works and the timetable isn't final yet. DSB are currently showing other timetables (later departure from Copenhagen) than DB and ÖBB so something's up.
Cheapest would have been not to book seats yet. Cheapest now is to book via tickets.oebb.at once reservations are open.

Reservations are not compulsory on that route at that time of year.

Is it only when they are compulsory (in the summer) that the reservation is included in the Hamburg-Copenhagen ticket prices? That is what the notes seem to suggest, in english at least.

First is only one coach, compartments, until new stock turns up.

As in prevous posts, if you want reservations just buy them from the cheapest source. From (possibly faulty) memory when I last booked Interrail reservations on Hamburg-Copenhagen DSB redirected to their branded version of b-europe which had different coaches available from db and oebb so separate quotas.

It's probably not possible yet. My guess is that they don't know what trains they will use on the route in November.

That is correct.

I haven't noticed any separate quotas yet, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. DSB is a bit more expensive than ÖBB (DKK 30 = €4.02).
