Family & Friends Railcard Question

So tomorrow my daughter, son in law and granddaughter are having a day trip from Durham to Whitby booked on the following trains (and tickets using F&F Railcard)...

0900 Durham - Darlington 0916 (Off Peak Single)
0922 Darlington - Middlesbrough 0952 (Advance Single including leg below)
1019 Middlesbrough - Whitby 11:51

1942 Whitby - Middlesbrough 21:12 (Advance Single including leg below)
2124 Middlesbrough - Darlington 21:54
22:08 Darlington - Durham 22:24 (Off Peak Single)

I won't know until the morning if I'm able to join them or not.

So what I'm wondering is if I meet them at the station tomorrow and go to the ticket office would I be able to buy an Off Peak Day Return and get the F&F Discount? (I'm the other named holder on the Railcard if that makes a difference).

Yes, although you may need to show the ticket office clerk the other tickets just to confirm the party is of the appropriate numbers.

Expanding on this if our friend and her young daughter joined us only for the Darlington - Whitby legs could she use our Railcard discount too?
It would end up a total group size of 4 Adults and 2 Kids.

Yep. Up to 4 adults & 4 children can avail of the discount when travelling together.

I'd caveat that by saying that Ticket Issuing Systems may not allow the issue of a Friends & Family discounted Adult ticket without an accompanying Child one in the same transaction.

....in which case it needs a full fare Offpeak to Darlington, and for friend, daughter and OP to be on the one booking from there to Whitby - that can be done online without having to show the railcard.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to go with them after all due to something coming up. Such a pity as the weather is perfect for a trip to the coast!
