Taunton to Minehead via WSR

Is it possible to get from Taunton to Minehead via a bus and WSR and return on Wednesday 30th April. Ideally I'd like a few hours in Minehead if possible. My day will start and end in Stafford.

Is it easily done?

Any advice would be welcome. TIA.

0822 STA to BHM
0912 BHM to TAU
1126 TAU to BLS
1225 BLS to MHD arr 1350 (could be steam or diesel)

1635 MHD to BLS (booked steam)
1759 BLS to TAU
1853 TAU to BHM
2107 BHM to STA arr 2151

Alternatively you could do

0709 STA to BHM
0812 BHM to TAU
1026 TAU to MHD by bus thence return as above this would give you an extra 2 hours ish in Minehead

Is BLS Bishops Lydeard? Are the bus stops near the railway stations?

Yes and bus stops at Station Bus times

My bus times above were slightly out as I hadn't realised that the timetable defaulted to today! You could get the 0621 from Stafford change at Brum and Taunton and make the first departure from Bishops Lydeard (6 min connection if bus on time!) Just double checked the other times, bus from TAU is 1146 ( 6 min connection again) for return that's now 1810 from BLS

It's confusing that the bus timetable refers to the south side of Taunton station, and 'eastbound' when neither the railway on that side or the bus at that point are heading east!

When the WSR is running the 28 stops in the station car park at Bishop's Lydeard (both Minehead bound and Taunton bound buses follow the same loop and use the same stop).

The bus stop locations at Taunton have varied because of the rebuilding of the roads and car parks on the south side of the station, but now that's done I think there's a stop for Minehead bound buses just outside the south side of the station building and turn left. Returning from Minehead I've usually found it quicker to disembark on the north side and use the north station entrance.
