Applied for this but forgot to write down the email address I needed to return the atoc form to, does anyone have it per chance?

Knowing a couple of people who’ve worked for them, and the way they’ve described the management culture, would put me off personally!
That's a very general assumption you make there. It depends on depot to depot, I guess!

That's a very general assumption you make there. It depends depot to depot. Certain places such as Newcastle and York, culture wise aren't great. Nothing to do with management, just full of mardy people who love to complain at the slightest incovenience and create this complex that the whole world is against them because control took more than 10 secs to answer their call. However depots such as Preston, Piccadilly and Liverpool are absolutley banging, great set of drivers. As always there will be a certain few drivers who just like to whine and moan for the sake of it. Driver management are really supportive and if you speak with drivers 90% of them are extremely content. I do agree that the recuitment for qualifieds as mentioned further up this thread is a bit lack luster and downright shocking at times if the mentioned experiences are true, but apart from that TPE is most drivers dream. 67k, some depots like Preston have amazing route cards as well as a really good roster, T&Cs are very very good (alot of which arent known to 'outsiders').

Not really an assumption, but something I’ve been told by two drivers I know and trust, neither of whom are Mardy types. Both have been very happy at other operators. Fully appreciate experiences differ but that would be enough to put me off personally, as in my experience, there’s no smoke without fire. Each to their own, of course!

£67k is okay but not exactly stellar for IC type work.

Can any Lumo drivers help me out, please?

Is the salary circa 68k? Has that been agreed for 25/26, or is there a new pay deal offered? With it being April and all

Is there a rdw min payment, or is it straight hours worked?

Is Sunday part of the working week?

What are the weekly contracted hours? 4 day week, or not?

Thanks

Are they recognised by Aslef (to barter their pay deals)?

Regards the Stirling depot, I'll be intrigued to see what interest they get from ScotRail drivers. The basic at SR is £64k now and Sundays are still outside the working week, so if you do your booked Sundays you're on about £68k a year anyway, with better conditions than most TOCs and immense job security.
Also, within the next five years or so Sundays will become part of the working week, and when that happens it'll be another big salary hike that will put SR on a good bit more than the likes of TPE, Lumo etc.
For me, it's not enough money to make a ScotRail driver jump ship. That said though, Stirling depot itself has a very small route knowledge and very monotonous suburban type work, so someone might be willing to take on the added risk just to have a change of scenery for a few years.

Out of curiosity, did you apply for the customer driver role or the instructor role? Did they give any information about timings/start dates etc

Driver. No word about start date but they’d need to allow for three months anyway.

Withdrew my application after interview yesterday. Shambles. Couldn’t tell me start dates, when they expect training or commencement of route to start (although they did say around 8 months from now onwards for training to start expected) No idea on when rolling stock will be available. No idea if they are looking to extend track rights and if they would redeploy anyone to the ECML if they lost the rights. I know it’s a brand new route/start but too many ifs and buts and a huge risk to leave current TOC. Did confirm it was 222s they are wanting. I’d be shocked if this route started before Dec 26

That's interesting. I have my trainee interview next week and have some questions about the logistics.

Interesting, I wonder if I had different interviewers. They were quite clear with me that they would be looking to run the first service in may 26. Hiring 20 drivers with 10 being apprentices and 10 qualified.

I've been invited to the next stage which is a people and culture interview, does anyone know what this entails?

Apologies if this comes across as a stupid question but is the 20 drivers just for the depot you applied to or is that total across the three depots?

Not at all - I'm not entirely sure, they mentioned that initially it would be 2 services per day with a view to increasing it in the future. Based on that information I would assume that it is an initial 20 across the three depots but wouldn't take my word as gospel.

I've got my culture interview next week with HR, how did yours go? The interviewers that I had for the trainee role were great and they confirmed start date of 16th June for trainees and that qualifieds will hopefully be joining in September (assuming a 3 month notice period) or later. They definitely have a plan for how they would like things to progress but obviously can't give any concrete answers yet. I was conscious of my interview running so I didn't ask too many questions.

Wow that is a tight schedule for the trainees to get started! If they have more than a month of notice to give they won’t be making that date. I think qualified drivers can range from 3 months upward depending on service.

Yeah, it's fairly quick, especially when you factor in the medical and waiting for a contract before you hand in your notice.

The culture interview was basically a chat with the head of HR and Ops. They had questions but it was more free form than a standard competency interview. I was on the call for 12 minutes - not sure if this is a good or bad sign but I guess we'll find out next week...

They asked me what my motivation was for joining lumo and what frustrates me. I feel like honesty was the best policy here (within reason, don't say "passengers" or "garishly blue trains" because I'm sure that would be a sure fire way of getting your application put in file 13).

I think it's important to be open and honest in this interview, we have to check that lumo is the right employer for us too.
