Although neither of my cases exactly match the requirements of the original post regarding the words terminus and platform, I have achieved this twice:
In the 1970's there was a service between Tottenham Hale to Stratford that used the loop at Stratford and thus faced the other way when returning. I held a season ticket from Harlow Town to Liverpool Street at the time, which was valid via Stratford so I used this on Saturday as it was one of the few few opportunities to view loco's on Stratford shed from a public train. Although Tottenham Hale is not a terminus in the usual sense the stabling siding for the DMU was off the down line, so trains in both directions used the down platform.
The other time was a steam excursion from Liverpool Street to Liverpool Street via Bury St Edmunds.
Has anyone else got a real world example of achieving this? Allowing for slight variations in the "rules" although the strict rules are: the same train, and it faces the opposite direction, to departure, when it arrives.
