How far have you travelled for a single number .

What with WMT joining Know Your Train on RTT i was wondering how far people are prepared to travel to clear a class etc. Looking at East Anglia a week on Saturday from Leics for my last 755, I've been after the damn thing for two years but this will be the first time I've paid good money to travel to an area simply to see it. I have other interests should i find out at about 05:00 that it is not allocated for anything but I'll not be happy as it'll mean doing the same thing again at a later date.

The furthest I've gone... this was in pre-RTT days... in fact, it's back in Virgin Trains days before the 390s were introduced.

I needed one single Mk3 carriage to ride on to clear the entire fleet, and lo and behold one afternoon I saw this carriage in a train arriving at Euston.

Very quickly, I established from staff what the next working would be, and rushed off to buy a ticket for it...

Accordingly, I rode it non stop from Euston to Stoke on Trent, just to get that one carriage off my list. I was in Stoke on Trent for roughly ten to fifteen minutes before getting the next train back to Euston.

I needed one Class 92 to clear the class. I knew that it was on test off Dollands Moor for a week so on 6th April 2010 I ventured down from Liverpool to Ashford International to specifically to get 92028.

I flew to San Fran specifically to clear my last outstanding CalTrain loco #922.
