This morning, 700060 working 2C17 0826 Cambridge - King's Cross seemed to think it was a 12 car, with the Passenger Information System (PIS) screens in coach three from the front saying that I was in coach 7 of 12! I presume this means that rather than being hard coded on the fixed formation class 700s, the driver has to select the unit number of formation length when setting up the cab and that input errors can lead to incorrect train formation being displayed on the PIS?
