I’ve noticed there have been daily workings of a short round circuit from Mountsorrel Sidings to Mountsorrel Sidings vis Leicester LIP.

This evening I saw it shunt into Leicester LIP as I alighted my train. It consisted of a light engined Freightliner Class 66. The question is, what is the purpose of this diagram because as far as I’m aware, the LIP isn’t Freightliners’ ‘usual territory’?

Almost certainly route learning. LIP will be used as a convenient reversal point presumably.

This will be for fuelling the loco at the L.I.P - Can’t fuel it at Mountsorrel as it’s a D.B fuel point!
