Does anyone have any further information on this role?

I wasn't aware of GTR having a base at Ashford so is this a new opening or do they have drivers based there?

Any further details would be much appreciated. I've also emailed GTR's HR team but I'm conscious the deadline is not far off.

They do because it was part of the long-planned (but since cancelled/long delayed - take your pick!) Ashford/Maidstone - Cambridge service. Lots of passing around now I believe.

See here for their routes (might need an update):

Ashford
Traction:
700
Routes:
Sevenoaks - Blackfriars via Swanley and Catford
(temporarily) Orpington - Kentish Town (via above)
Soon to add St Pancras - Welwyn Garden City
Diversions via Herne Hill

As an aside that is a really poor wage for a DM, even if it is the "line management" side rather than the "competency management" side of the role.

Thanks for the update. Are these drivers actually based out of Sevenoaks though? If so, you'd expect most of your work to be based there, rather than Ashford.

There's no depot at Sevenoaks - only Orpington.

They are just admin bods basically there to fill the jobs that the CDM doesn't want to do, sickness, mfa etc.
They aren't driver qualified and are pretty much just a hyped up admin assistant.

They’re usually advertised as £40-45k for GTR if previous adverts are anything to go by. It sounds about right for any DM who’s not hit a driver competency.

I'm well aware, it still sounds low is all.

The drivers all start and end at Ashford. Each diagram involves catching another train or a taxi to somewhere else - Sevenoaks or Orpington usually.

Nice work if you can get it! Must be at least an hour at each end of the diagram?

About that yes! I believe a couple of years ago one afternoon Sevenoaks departure had to be retimed to leave later because the taxi from Ashford went past a bunch of schools in each town and would never get there in time.
