Got an anytime day travelcard from Nottingham to London through work. A whopping £244 for just standard class...:s

Personal plans have now changed and I was wondering if an excess to an Anytime Return (Period) could be obtained, as a change of ticket through work would be rather difficult.

If so, could the excess be obtained at an ticket office/on board? Would I be charged a penalty fare if I travelled using the return portion of the ticket on the next day?

You would be treated as not holding a valid ticket (and I doubt you'd get past the barriers at St Pancras). A ticket cannot be excessed once its validity has expired.

Your best bet is to obtain a refund (which would go back to the work account) and get a new ticket.
