I recently have received a letter from the British transport police they have said the following

I am writing to invite you for an interview regarding an allegation of fraud that has taken place against SOUTHEASTERN RAILWAY, dating between 2022 and the present date,

During interview you are entitled to free and independent legal advice; however if you wish to have representation I would ask that this is arranged beforehand as it severely delays the process if this has to be arranged on the day

I have contacted a solicitor and got them on the case but yet to give them information and see what evidence they have against me.

A little while ago, me and my family had domestic violence going on, so my mums ex husband brought the train tickets for me to go and collect after he told me to leave otherwise he’d abuse us and I had no money to get out, so he would do it all for me, and I would go and use the tickets but I was not aware what he was doing.

He was using my PayPal account to occur all of this.

I’m just really worried as to what is gonna happen I have mental health issues and struggle a lot

I’ve recently got up on my feet after going through a lot in the years and it is not happening till this present date, bear in mind I was a minor at 14 when this was happening.

I think Southeastern have been harsh not to speak to me first, I don’t really know what to do but I like to travel too and don’t want a criminal record off this, any advice anyone?

If the police are involved and you are being accused of fraud then you need to instruct a solicitor which it seems you have done. If you are arrested over the allegations, make no comment until a solicitor is present. You will be provided a duty solicitor free of charge at the police station if you are arrested.

Police allegations of fraud are very serious and beyond the scope of specific advice the forum can give. Speak to your solicitor.

I don’t understand the BTP accusing you of fraud, but I feel this issue is beyond the scope of the forum.

If you were 14 at the time, I don’t see how the BTP can even think you have committed fraud. What 14 year old even commits fraud?

It seems Southeastern have waited until I’ve turned 18 to involve BTP, but no communications from them. I don’t see this going far and the solicitor has been involved and will be having a conversation Monday afternoon about this, I think southeastern are picking on me and not contacting before hearing my side of the story! I don’t see this going far once I get my side of the story across to the BTP in the interview,
