A few of my pet hates;

  • Fortnightly bin collections (yes, we have that problem in Exeter which has a Labour run council!)
  • The Sun and all tabloid newspapers
  • The Only Way is Essex/ Made in Chelsea/ Jersey Shore/any 'reality' program
  • Line managers who treat their employees as serfs
  • Car, bus & lorry drivers who are inconsiderate towards cyclists - who else here has been honked by some wanker behind the wheel of a 20 ton lorry simply for occupying the same stretch of road
  • The McNulty report
  • All political parties save for the Monster Raving Loony Party
  • 'Rahs' (go to Exeter, you'll see tons of them)

No, I've not.
But as a cyclist, I actually take responsibility for my actions, and I'll accept the blame for when I make a mistake.

There are both bad drivers and bad cyclists, and it's the cyclists who seem prepared to take more risks despite being more vulnerable. I've witnessed some awful driving, but nothing quite on the scale of the stupidity of some cyclists, the ones who appear to have a death wish.
It never ceases to amaze me the number of people I see cycling on the roads with headphones in, completely unaware of what's going on around them. I nearly ran one over yesterday when he cycled across the road in front of me without looking.

This isn't directly at you, but that point really hit a nerve.
I can't stand the holier than thou attitude that is so prevalent among a seemingly quite large number of cyclists.

Oh, and for those interested, here's what happens when you cycle like an idiot and don't respect other vehicles on the road.

Those who abuse animals.

Those who grassed on Ian Faletto. For them I have eternal hatred.

Those who compose forum posts using text talk, or only in lower case letters, because they are either too lazy to use capital's when appropriate, or don't know when to, and can't be bothered to learn. They join my 'ignore' list.

The Labour Party. The others are little better.

Airport security. But that doesn't mean that I think it is unnecessary.

Trades Unions - all of them.

Mervyn King, the eternal pessimist. Every time he opens his big gob Sterling goes into freefall. He then wonders why imports are so expensive and inflation so high.

The EU. OK in principle, but has now gone way too far.

Those who practice double standards.

The ethnic diversity brigade. Britain’s boom industry.

Michael O'Leary, and the semi literate moron who composes Ryanair's press releases, for mentioning the name of the airline in the third party as many times as possible.

50's.

The politically correct and elf 'n' safety brigades. Mind how you go.

The compensation culture clan, and the 'no win no fee' ambulance chasing lawyers who live off them.

The USA, China, Iran, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Russia.

Those who boast that they live off the state.

Expats who claim to be proud to be British, but who would throw up their hands in horror if they had to go back and live there.

The Northern Ireland paramilitary groups, protestant or catholic.

Women who want equality on everything, except when it doesn't suit, such as the accelerated raising of the state pension age.

TV and radio translators who sound like infants reading out aloud for the first time.

TV and radio presenters/newreaders talking in the third party, such as a BBC newsreader saying something like 'the minister told the BBC', or 'here's a special report from the BBC's Fred Bloggs'.

- The fact I pay NI and contribute to the NHS (yet haven't used it for many, many years), then I am expected to pay £17 to spend 45 seconds sat in a denist chair

Amongst other things.

Likewise. What I hate is that, thanks to Cameron and his cronies, when I finally need the NHS it aint going to be around. <(

People who have "child on board" stickers in their vehicle and proceed to drive like idiots!

And even those who don't... What is the point in these? "Please don't skid into the back of my car?". Oh I was just going to look at that bit of skirt over there, not realise you have stopped and skid into you, seriously damaging both cars and injuring us both, but due to that sticker I won't....

Is it more to say "look at me I'm clever I have made a baby" or "yes I'm dead sexy but you can't have me, I'm taken" or indeed is it to say "MILF alert boys" (is there a 'FILF' equivalent?!) BANG CRUMP... agh just driven into you while pondering.

There are many things that I dislike, but of things I hate;

- Intolerance of others and bullying
- People who forget even the most basic manners
- People who make up rules to deliberately obstruct others
- Cruelty to children and animals

There are some more, but these are the main ones!

On the flip side, (not arguing your point at all here) I loathe the many SMEs out there who claim silly amounts of public funds for useless "green" energy products, such as shoddily planned/designed wind turbines of 30cm diameter on the side of buildings - in a built up area, where winds simply do not exist to ever pay for itself.

It is windy there though and its next to an industrial estate near junction 36 of m1....... ridiculous

The dwindling amount of locos on Network Rail.
The fact that it costs me £19 to go to Crewe and take a gamble on seeing a light engine move, ecs move or something unusual. And that has to make my day.
Tim de Lisle's opinion of "heavy metal".
Ulcerative colitis.
Attitudes towards holistic health treatments from established doctors etc.
Modern films that have to have a check-list of: Tanned muscly people, Guns, Explosions, Cars, Violence, Bad acting.
Rude spotters/photographers - thankfully very rare, but once when I was already filming a convoy (67+90+92) leaving Crewe, a git shuffled over and barked "See where you are there? well stay down" as I was crouching to get a steadier shot.
Intolerance and bigotry towards people who are in any way different. Light humour is acceptable, but blind hatred isn't.
Sssssssssssslllllllllllllllooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwww people.
Going out on a trip and realising I've forgotten a vital bit of kit.
Waiting for ages for a railtour/etc to pass, getting bored, thinking it's gonna an hour long wait then putting the lens cap on and turning my camera off - then the railtour/etc passes.
Getting up early to see a railtour.
Missing a railtour.
The tension from trying to get to the station to see a railtour.
How empty and lifeless Bescot is.
The fact that in this time when I've started venturing out on my own, with the time to go out spotting, there's almost nothing to see.
The ubiquitous-ness of 66s.
The fact that there's no open weekend planned for Crewe DMD/EMD.
The fact that loco-haulage isn't going to return to how it once was.
People asking me if this train goes to this place, when RIGHT BEHIND THEM is a screen listing all the callings.
"We will be arriving into..."
Having to buy a ticket to some farty non-place just to get onto a station.
Bowlage.

Getting on a Voyager and finding a seat that isn't reserved, according to the digital screen thingy, then at another station it suddenly becomes reserved. Cheers for that.

There are only two Warships.

The amount of money in modern football. Suck it out and give it to the restoration/new build projects!

Me + me dad going to Seaforth Docks to find that 70012 has already gone. (Although we then went around Liverpool, inc The Cavern Club, which was awesome)

Food allergies.

Phew! There's the tip of the iceberg.
