Need advice:
- Got stopped by a GTR inspection officer regarding travelling with a 16-25 railcard that I had no idea had expired since July '24 which I know is my responsibility but I was at least hoping I'd receive some kind of reminder. Had about 15 trips on it since. I don't really travel a lot. Which I know this is all very silly of me.
- I turn 26 in a few weeks so did not see the point of renewing a railcard for 16-25 and would just rather wait till I turn 26 so I can get the 26-30.
- Officer was calm and questioned me with caution. I was fully compliant and did not kick off. I assured him I'd have the full price had I known my railcard was expired.
- He said I might face prosecution or I might not. I don't mind paying the charge if it means I don't go to court.
- I haven't received the letter yet, this only happened recently. I've heard GTR are pretty open to settlement out of court so long as you mitigate your case calmly and explain what happened.
- I really don't want any criminal record or conviction I just want this all to go away and I'm quite scared.
I'd appreciate some reassurance in the thread!
