On the Caledonian sleeper website, the journey I wish to take (Friday 21st Edinburgh to London) is apparently sold out, however other ticketing sites allow me to purchase a ticket, what happens if I buy a ticket for this journey, will I still be able to board?

As long as you have a reservation you will be able to board.

The 'regular' rooms and seats are sold out. The only availability is for the accessible twin room, or in the seated coach you have the wheelchair space plus accompanying companion seat. Some sites will sell you the latter as a "Seating Single" without telling you this is what you're getting.

As the Caledonian Sleeper site says, though:
Please be aware that accessible rooms and seats are intended for guests with accessibility needs. Please consider whether you have accessibility requirements.

The last seat is showing as available

There is really not much left on this train:
- 1 seat which is the companion seat to the (adjacent) wheelchair space
- 1 accessible twin room
- 1 accessible double room

Until about 1 week before travel the companion seat is available only together with the wheelchair space, as a combined booking. If the companion seat remains unsold about a week before travel (and it's the last seat left?) then it is added to the general pool of seats, and can be purchased like any other seat can; that's what you're now seeing above.

Have you checked to see if there is any availability from Glasgow to Euston the same night... I wouldn't expect so at this short notice, but it's not impossible... and always worth checking.
