If a Winslow-London season ticket becomes available, that has validity option via Reading, (eg Bicester Village has both via High Wycombe at £7497.60 and any Permitted via Reading at £7710).

That ticket has the potential for being valid:-

Winslow-Bletchley-Euston
Winslow-Bicester Village-Marylebone
Winslow-Reading-Paddington
Winslow-Reading-Waterloo
(In due course Winslow-Aylesbury-Marylebone & Winslow-Aylesbury-Princes Risborough-Marylebone).

And for every journey between any two station on these routes.

Will this make it the single most flexible Season Ticket on the Network?

I very much doubt it.

For example I suspect that a London - Manchester season ‘any permitted’ will be valid direct via Stoke or Crewe, or via Sheffield, or via Birmingham NS (again via Stoke or Crewe), or via Reding, Oxford, Birmingham and as above, or via Chiltern to Oxford / Banbury and as above, and possibly even via the Cotswold line snd Worcester to Birmingham, maybe even via Cardiff and the Marches.

I’m sure someone wiht a betterknowledge of the fares manual than I will tellme if I’m wrong, but also find a much more flexible point to point season ticket.

It's also possible that there won't actually be tickets routed Any Permitted between Winslow and London, with all three TOCs using different geographic routes.

Isn't it the case that you can just use the most expensive fare for any route, like via Taunton fares from London to Exeter being valid via Salisbury?

Not with season tickets, as the excess fare process for changing routeing doesn't apply. The process is that you buy a new ticket for the part of the route that your season ticket doesn't cover.

Not Cotswold nor Cardiff, nor Chiltern via Oxford, but additionally via Warrington Central by walking across Warrington from Bank Quay.
But still a lot of options nonetheless.

Does Manchester to London permit the Midland Main Line?

Obviously the old Project Rio direct trains went that way, but would the route be valid today?

I assume that @Bald Rick did not include the MML for a reason.

For completeness, London-Manchester permitted routes are
  • GC + BM
  • MA
  • PR
  • RG + RM
with additionally +NR (via Warrington) to all of these except PR (the Saint Pancras & Sheffield route).

I should probably have narrowed it down to "practical", refined it to the NSE area, or placed a £10,000 limit on the season ticket.

All rather sobering, given that the full price annual Swiss GA Travelcard (which covers virtually all public transport throughout Switzerland) works out to around £3,500.

Or £4200 for Germany's BahnCard 100.

Keith Junction to Hamble offers a variety of routes!

(Before we had 'Boxes' for staff free travel it was a favourite of ours for free passes.)

Probably not a popular season ticket though.
