Specution - extend Weaver line from Liverpool St to London Bridge. Divert off just before LST at the derelict land next to Shoreditch High St Station then tunnel with stations at: Liverpool St, a new station bang in the middle of the commercial district (leadenhall st?), then London Bridge

This would:
Give a direct link between the 2 of the busiest terminals (which serve opposite territories so is of relevance) - currently have to change at Bank despite proximity
Perhaps more importantly give these stations a new connection to the commercial centre of London relieving the busiest section of central & northern lines with full size trains (Bank station is also still a bit of walk from the 'city centre' where all the hi rises are)
Give the mildmay line a better connection to central London if platforms also added at Shoreditch High St

Hmmm.... Wonder just how many utilities, building foundations and other transport lines that hits...

This derelict land?

Bishopsgate Goodsyard is one of the most exciting redevelopment sites in London today. Bringing vitality to the currently derelict site of a goods depot that has lain idle since 1964, the Goodsyard will draw from these neighbouring areas, offering a complementary mix of independent traders, new startups and international brands, along with a brand new park and 500 new homes.

The east side at Liverpool Street already has a direct link to London Bridge by changing to the Jubilee Line at Stratford.

That land is worth several billion pounds. Also, despite what google says, the Central line is underneath it.

Perhaps more importantly give these stations a new connection to the commercial centre of London relieving the busiest section of central & northern lines with full size trains

They already have a connection - it’s called ‘the pavement’ and a couple of hundred thousand people make that trip every working day without issue - it takes about 10 minutes from Liverpool St, slightly longer from London Bridge.

Thanks! As the land is not available... another possibility would be to extend the Met to London Bridge to give it a direct connection to Liverpool St (and Farringdon etc.)!

Thameslink already connects the Met with London Bridge at Farringdon.

Ah but Thameslink (or any National Rail), is never really considered in hardcore new tube line fantasies.

We also see that about once a year when the ‘extra station on the drain’ gets recycled…

Way on down South London town
I've long tried to think of ways you could extend the so-called "Weaver Line", most recently only the other day. An idea which I've often toyed with whilst trying to occupy myself on a class 378 as it moans its way through South London, is to build a Liverpool Street to Euston tunnel to connect with the DC Lines. With stations at Finsbury, St Luke's, Farringdon, Grays Inn and Euston. Sadly, I think the Lea Valley Lines are going to be forever stuck at Liverpool Street given the impossibility of finding a tunnel portal out of Liverpool Street. Well, at least Liverpool Street is a fine station to be stuck at. More probably, it'll be good to see a 10 min frequency on the Enfield lines given the density of the area it serves.e

Leadenhall Street is no more than a couple of hundred metres from Liverpool Street - have people lost the use of their legs?

Not sure how you‘d do that.

Crossrail 2, obviously, studied the location of tunnel portals extensively for the West Anglia side. The answer is just south of Tottenham Hale.

I'd love to see where a station would go, and where the worksite would be, in Leadenhall Street.

Isn’t it obvious ? There’s a market there, so demolish that, no homes affected. Apparently it’s only used by wealthy banker / insurance types. They won’t miss it.

;)
