What are the chances that one of the TUs will have a "labour dispute" that weekend ?

Not that I will be attending myself. Having to book 6 months in advance does not impress me** and in any case you waste far too much time trying to photograph the exhibits without hordes standing in fron of them.

** - I remember the old Derby Works "Open Day & Flower Show" - last Saturday every August - just turn up and join the queue, then wander round the works as you wanted.........
i don't know, but i'm sure if you pray hard enough it will happen to spoil everyone else's fun.

I don't want the event to be spoilt. I was just pointing out that is it coincidence that "disputes" coincide with some "busy" events /occasions - e.g. around Christmas?

Incidentally - will any 19th century locos or rolling stock be attending the event?

Sadly missed out on tickets - hopefully snap some up closer to the time from those that re-sell and can’t attend

You snooze, you lose. I pontificated for too long and have missed out on tickets for this, and have disappointed my offspring in the process. I’ve added an alert on resale site Twickets in the hope that somebody may have got over excited and booked too many, and decide to sell them on! Fingers crossed

Well i think enough bad things happen in the world already, lets hope this one doesn't get afflicted too. :)

I also would like some 19C locos, definitely some pre-Big 4.

Nowhere near two million are train enthusiasts though. He is popular largely because of the camera angle.
And not all enthusiasts are ”Francis” fans. Although it's hard to argue against the publicity that he brings.

Just wondering if there is anyone else in same situation as me. I bought a family ticket on 31 Jan. Had a confirmation email saying my credit card had been charged £65 with a transaction reference. Then nothing. Until 24 Feb, when out of the blue Mortons refunded the £65. Have contacted Mortons without reply. Also contacted Greatest Gathering, and had a reply that Mortons had sent no record of my transaction to them. Hope this can be resolved.

Don't ask me how much some of my Hidden London Underground tours have cost, it'll make your eyes water. Certainly made mine.
Going back to 2008, I took my ex to a contemporary theatre production within London Bridge Station's labrynthine arched undercroft.
She thought I was there for the artistic culture.
I didn't tell her it was because those two theatre tickets were cheaper than a Hidden London visit. :D

Hopefully they remembered to say ‘We are thrilled to announce…..’.

Seems to be compulsory for this event.
I can hear the spin now….”Thrilled to announce an exhibit that has not yet turned a wheel in service”.

Seems that about 100 others affected like this for purchases on 31 Jan. Where the only thing recorded was email address and ticket value. I have had to email Great Gathering people details of what I purchased and should be getting tickets soon.

Anyone have any idea on how the tickets will work when purchased through a railtour provider. Just brought tickets for the greatest gathering railtour from ukrailtours and since the tickets are sold out how do they work for railtour providers.

Do railtour providers have a separate pool of tickets allocated for them.

The railtour tickets include entry to the event, so effectively yes - they're a separate ticket pool.

I'm not sure if it'll be production of the railtour ticket or if the tour participants will be given an entry ticket on board; I suspect the latter.
