Not too sure what's happened to HD03. It was showing as out then suddenly got taken off almost at departure time.

Well, had my first trip up from Cardiff to Bangor on the 1722 last night. Mark 4 and I have to say it was superb. The guard wouldn’t let me upgrade until he was sure the catering was on (from Newport), and with a senior railcard it only cost £21 something. Very comfortable seat, excellent host and the food - I has lamb rump as my main- was delicious. We seemed to be ahead of schedule most of the trip too - long stops at Hereford and Shrewsbury. Only gripe was having to pay for the food, but the old offering was never going to last was it?

Glad you had a good trip.
Essentially your last point is spot on, it was never going to last like that! The losses were monumental and scaled up on multiple all day diagrams wouldn't be able to be absorbed and prices would have to rise substantially or the service/quality cut back drastically for it to continue.

Even at that, £22 - £30 for 3 courses isn't bad, that's what £7-£10 more than you may find yourself paying at the likes of wetherspoons.

Should be fine on that one tomorrow. Everything planned to run.
Ah that’s good to hear.
I’ve travelled from Paddington to Cardiff this evening on a GWR class 800. I have to say, the ride quality was quite shocking and noisy, it’s the first time I have travelled this route and was disappointing all round in 1st.
