Firstly Congratulations , ill let others chip in on rosters etc cos that isnt my area I am afraidOne other question, regarding IST- is there any criteria about where they place you to do it and is it possible to change the location they allocate you? I'm in no way going to risk my appointment and will go wherever I have to, but just wondered if it was possible to request a certain location/distance from home?
Many thanks again for all the help and the very best of luck to all who are still engaged in the process.
I think the Sunday night will depend on your LOM, I’m only 30 mins away from my IST location but have been booked in a hotel from Sunday night (which means I get an extra night of dinner allowance!)Firstly Congratulations , ill let others chip in on rosters etc cos that isnt my area I am afraid
Regarding IST , theyll try and get you on a course locally if they can , but ultimately might depend on space on courses and how urgent they are to fill vacancies .
You will be put up in a hotel Monday to Friday anwyay , and if it is far enough away that sunday travelling is required you will be put up Sunday night and paid for travelling time on sunday at sunday rate .
Hi I have applied for a signaller job at Eastleigh I have got through the first few assessments now due to go to an assessment centre can anyone tell me how the shift pattern/Rosta looks once qualified ? I’m currently on a day and night split shift so nights don’t worry me I’m more interested in how the rotation looks as I’m currently on 4 on 4 off
Eastleigh = 7 (with grade 9 SSMs). 8 hour roster (not sure about Sundays)
EMCC are 12-hrs, but not sure of the shift rotation. The G4 roles will be for both the Netherfield and Mansfield workstations. They cover both.Good Evening All,
Firstly I just wanted to echo what many previous other members have said, which is to say thank you to all who have posted help/advice/information on here with regards to the recruitment process, it was a great resource for me throughout.
I have recently been offered and accepted a G4 post at the Derby ROC / EMCC, which I'm absolutely ecstatic about!
It was my first attempt at applying and it was a really smooth process for me- it was only about 6 weeks from initial application to offer, so I feel especially lucky, given what others have said on here about how long things have taken for them.
I just wondered if anyone had any idea of the type of roster they operate there? I know it is a 24/7 operation, which is fine for me, I just wondered if it's 12 hour shifts or 8? Is it a week of 4/5/6 shifts then a week of RDs or a more a case of 3-4 shifts each week?

You will probably do IST at Derby, it makes sense. However, your Track Circuit Block (TCB) training course could be undertaken anywhere.
Hey man, also applied for this position. I assumed it was to be based as LSCC controlling metheringham area (LN4).Hi all,
Thank you to all of those that have contributed to this wealth of information,
Recently applied for a G2 Trainee role, Passed all of the criteria and just waiting for an assessment centre.
The only thing I can't seem to figure out is the actual area that I would of applied for?
The job advert suggested the "Lincoln LN4" area but i can't seem to find a signal box that sits in this area.
I know of plenty on the Nottingham/Barnetby Line but struggling for the Lincoln to Peterborough line that would fall into the LN4 area.
Any one with any ideas that it's likely i'd be placed?
Many thanks for any help

If it's in the 'old folks home' (LSCC) then you would rotate through all four workstations.Hey man, also applied for this position. I assumed it was to be based as LSCC controlling metheringham area (LN4).
If you manage to find out let me know.
Good luck![]()

Different area but I passed mine 6 weeks ago and I’m still waiting for a date. ♂️Anyone that’s passed the online assessment&video heard back about an interview date yet? For Edinburgh G8/9? Anyone know about the shift patterns for that box as well? Cheers

6 weeks later they have said I have not been shortlisted due to high volume of applicants . I only live 2 miles from the chosen location so that cannot be the reason. Very disappointed. I am now on a reserve list. What options would I have from here and is it likely I will be contacted again or is that my opportunity gone ?
They emailed me and it says I am on a reserve list thereThat doesn't actually say you are on a reserve list - it just says the tests you have already passed will remain valid for six months and if you see any other locations that you are interested in then you should let them know and they will move your application over. You wont have to retake the tests.
Would that be a positive then if I have been placed on a reserve list ?That's not normal if you've not had an interview. Normally the second and third placed people after interview would go on the reserve list.
I did a video interview but not face to face. I won’t get my hopes up but at least they haven’t completely disregarded me and it says I’m on a reserve list so I will just crack on with my current job and hope for a future email or phone callThose on the reserve list after interview quite often receive offers.
I applied for a role in summer last time passed all but didn’t get the job and put on a reserve list, got offered a job last week and starting in april so could take some time to hear but never give upDifferent area but I passed mine 6 weeks ago and I’m still waiting for a date. ♂️

Hopefully I get a second chance then, I will keep my eyes on the website to see if anything else arises, I will keep trying. I just did my video interview too, waiting on it being reviewed currently. How long did it take yours to be reviewed?I did a video interview but not face to face. Literally about 2 hours ago, but the wait was 6 weeks before then. A very long time and was told I was not shortlisted due to a high number of applicants but they want to keep me on a reserve listI just did my video interview too, waiting on it being reviewed currently. How long did it take yours to be reviewed?
What area was your role for?Ah I see, thanks for the info. Yeah, I'm not holding my breath, based on info I've found on these forums, unless I get a face to face and that is successful. I shall continue on with life for the time being lol
Mine was for G6 and Manchester. For Perth, Scotland. G2 Trainee role. Hopefully I am and hopefully you hear back sooner rather than later.
