If HD03 does make it out tomorrow it will have 67022 on it, 025 is heading back to the ETD swapping places with 67016 which will then be the spare.
Planned swap later with 1V39 (HD05) going back out on the 14:50 Cardiff Manchester, 1V33 (HD03) will form the 17:22 Holyhead.1V91 67015 Set 2

As it stands its expected that HD01/02/04/05 will cover the 4 diagrams tomorrow.
Sunday only HD01 is expected to be available on the Cardiff diagram, no Crewe diagram due to HD06 now requiring tyre turning knocking it out until next week.
Monday is expected to be a diagram down from Crewe (v31 etc likely) with only HD01/02/03/05 available.
Tuesday should see HD04 return from a minor exam so back to 5 available.
I have an advance ticket booked to Manchester in a few weeks time which i got at a bargain price in the sale. There were no first class advances so i just booked standard. I am hoping if its a MK4 to upgrade to first and try the breakfast. Is it around £25 to upgrade on the day between Cardiff and Manchester? Its the 0853 im booked onto (changing at Cardiff Central so id only upgrade for part of my advance ticket as no first class before Cardiff). Hopefully it runs as a MK4 as planned as heard this one is one of the most likely to be swapped for a unit.
incidentally, my return journey the following day is the 1530 Manchester to South Wales which is booked for a 5 car 197. I figured id mix it up a bit as I like the 197s just as much if not more than the MK4's.
Thanks for the advice. I will check that out. Unfortunately I don't qualify for a railcard of any kind, I'd save loads. But too old for a young person's and far too young for a senior railcard! It’s £27.20 for an upgrade now, or £18.10 with a railcard if you’ve got one.
Alternatively check out the Seatfrog app which now auctions first class upgrades for all the Mk4 services, it is possible you’ll grab a bargain one on there!
A bit of a pedantic point I know, but I wouldn't call a mark 4 set without a class 91 attached a 225 (or even an IC225). The TfW loco-hauled sets (when a 67 is attached) are diesel trains with a maximum permitted speed of 125mph (at best, probably not even that - not sure if the 67s could actually do their 125mph theoretical max even if TfW had any 125mph track to use them on) while an INTERCITY 225 is an overhead electric train with a maximum permitted speed of 140mph (225kph, which they have proved to be capable of even though there is no suitable track for them to do that speed anymore).don’t want it to be some 153s when I’ve been banging on about the 225s for the last 18 months!

Is it possible to upgrade to first class on-board when your ticket is a standard class Advance Single? I would have thought that wouldn't be allowed, given that Advance fares are supposed to come with a reserved seat (I know that TfW currently does that crazy 'counted place' thing instead, but my question is a general one applicable to any operator that offers first class, not just TfW) and upgrading to first class on-board would be too late to cancel your standard class reservation, effectively 'wasting' a seat. I know the same problem would occur if someone had a seat reservation and was upgrading to first from a flexible standard class ticket, but in that case it's possible that the passenger would not have a reservation, whereas with an Advance they certainly would have a reservation.Alternatively check out the Seatfrog app which now auctions first class upgrades for all the Mk4 services, it is possible you’ll grab a bargain one on there!
That's a very good point. I assumed they would let me upgrade as its extra revenue for them, so long as my advance was valid for the day and time of the journey which it would need to be to travel in the first place. But yes worth finding out. There were no first class advance for my chosen journey but I wonder if that was because my journey is Neath to Manchester changing at Cardiff. So technically first would not be available for the entire journey Another downside to the services being split at Cardiff I guessIs it possible to upgrade to first class on-board when your ticket is a standard class Advance Single? It normally works throughOn Saturdays, does 1V50 1630 Manchester Piccadilly to Swansea work through with a 67 or is it a swap to a unit at Cardiff? RTT says its standard class only from Cardiff.
Ah that's good, I'm travelling west this evening so may go for it .It normally works through
It's irrelevant what ticket you hold to start with, be it an anytime or the cheapest advance the upgrade is available and the same price. That's a very good point. The 0853 now is pretty reliable, it's a planned substitution on Monday coming due to a set needing unplanned tyre turning at the same time as 2 on exam but it's now very rare for any planned substitutions, there hasn't been any for several weeks until this one which is only for Sunday and Monday. Its the 0853 im booked onto (changing at Cardiff Central so id only upgrade for part of my advance ticket as no first class before Cardiff). Thank you. Sounds hopeful. THe uograde price plus the cheap advance ticket is pretty much what id expect to pay if i got an off peak return (well half of the off peak return for the single journey) so I may well treat myself. Kind of wished id searched for Cardiff to Manchester advances now as may have picked up a cheap first class advance although from memory i dont think there was one on the early Swansea to Manchester for first class. Think last time i paid £40 Manchester to Neath in the sale for a first class advance on the 1630 which obviously had advances as it was a direct train beyond Cardiff. It put me off splitting the ticket incase my journey from Neath was delayed. At least if its a through ticket TFW would have to let me travel on the next service if it was missed. The 0853 now is pretty reliable, it's a planned substitution on Monday coming due to a set needing unplanned tyre turning at the same time as 2 on exam but it's now very rare for any planned substitutions, there hasn't been any for several weeks until this one which is only for Sunday and Monday.
You're far more likely for the 1530 to turn up shortformed these days than for the 0853 not to be a Mk4.
I’m on a first class advance to Manchester from Swansea next week, with a caveat at the first train is a 197 (or equivalent) without first class. There were no first class advance for my chosen journey but I wonder if that was because my journey is Neath to Manchester changing at Cardiff. So technically first would not be available for the entire journey
There couldn't have been any first class advances.on the day and time I looked thenI’m on a first class advance to Manchester from Swansea next week, with a caveat at the first train is a 197 (or equivalent) without first class.
Nearly but not quite. Is it right that the Mk4 did all 5 of their diagrams in full this week? I haven't noted any mention of substitutions.
Certainly everything leaving Manchester yesterday was as planned and the 18:30 I took was Mk4 all the way (if anything got turned due to the issues at Crewe then that is not TfW. or the Mk4s fault).
It is very impressive and great to see.Nearly but not quite.
A set suffered a brake issue at Abergavenny which saw that set cancelled for a round trips and one other was subbed to balance things.
Believe that was it so 63/65 departures out of Manchester have run as Mk4. Not quite perfect but believe that's the best yet since the 5th diagram.
IIRC £27.20 on the dayHi, does anyone know the walkup upgrade price for crewe to Cardiff?
Also what is the chances of being able to upgrade? Considering it for a return journey price dependent.
I'll be connecting off a train from Carlisle - doesn't register as a official connection- so it's only if the chance arrises.IIRC £27.20 on the day
Seat Frog do online upgrades
On there app can be as little as £10
Brfares says the business zone upgrade from Crewe is £22.00 (£27.20 from Manchester/Stockport/Wilmslow).IIRC £27.20 on the day

Could you provide a link? I have a 16-25 railcard - if that is applicable I'll likely upgrade.Brfares says the business zone upgrade from Crewe is £22.00 (£27.20 from Manchester/Stockport/Wilmslow).
Railcard discountable (at least for Senior).
