I'm going from Guildford to the West Hampstead Arts Club on Thursday

I need to arrive by 18:00 but I might be able to arrive by 19:00, if the event I'm attending starts later than they advertise. I'm still finding out.

It claims to finish at 22:30 but might overun.

Is the best way to get there via London Waterloo and the London Underground, using the Jublee line, or are there other routes that are faster? Google Maps suggested using a hus Thameslink for part of the journey and not the Jubilee Line. I don't trust Google Maps in this case.

Whilst I appreciate the West London Line would be cheaper, before 17:34, there is only 1 fast train an hour from Guildford to Clapham Junction and the timings might not work.

The 23:08 from West Hampstead to Clapham Junction just officially misses the 23:39 Clapham Junction to Guildford service and the next service to arrive into Guildford soonest, is the 23:59, which takes 51 minutes and doesn't arrive in to Guildford until 0:50.

There use to be a 23:52, which was fast but now days there is a 0:44 instead, although it only goes as far as Guildford.

No need to overthink this - assuming things on the Jubilee line are lovely jubbly (and most of the time they are), that's the way to go.

Kilburn station (also Jubilee line) is marginally nearer the WHAC - and also, for what it's worth, avoids the walk along the trackside path sandwiched between the track and back garden fences and walls (named the Black Path, originally a nickname but since officially adopted) which runs north of the Thameslink/MML line from WH Thameslink station west to Broomsleigh Street... though plenty of commuters will be using it earlier in the evening.

I suppose my backup would be Thameslink from Blackfriars to West Hampstead (so walk Waterloo to Blackfriars).

An interesting use of that phrase, given the NLL/ WLL/ Mildmay line service is scheduled to arrive at 23:38! I'm in favour of challenging the official minimum connection time (MCT) where feasible - and at Clapham Jn it is 10 minutes (with the exception of Southern-to-Southern connections which have an MCT of 5 mins) - but a one minute connection is pushing it!

The Black Path was sketchy once upon a time but I’d have no qualms using it now (I say that as a x2 West Hampstead resident)

Thanks for your info. I probably was over thinking it because Google Maps wasn't suggesting the Jublee line at the time I was searching.

I also thought in the working timetable the train was timed to arrive in earlier than in the passenger timetable but I see that isn't the case.

I just remember in the past getting into Clapham Junction earlier than the advertised time when using the West London Line.

I now realised what caused my Google Map issues. Previously I switched off underground from the list of travel options I wanted.

I can't remember why but as a result it right ignored that.

It would be kind if useful to tell me I have filtering on. Like Trainsplit does by highlighting I have advanced options enabled.

If it does do similar on Google Maps, I didn't notice.
