Hello. My daughter was caught with a short ticket at Marylebone and was sent a letter by Chiltern intending to prosecute; she had done this on two other occasions which they referred to. She sent an email using the advice on here apologizing and requesting to settle out of court. She had an email back saying she would hear within 60 days which has now passed. Is it likely that she will now get a summons as they have rejected her request? Thank you for any advice. She is very anxious as she is trying to get her first job after graduating and may have a criminal record.

It's possible that they have emailed back yet it's gone to spam or been deleted accidentally. You should check that.
Otherwise, if you have a case number, then you ought to chase them up. If they have written to you and you haven't received it and not replied, then the next you will hear is that you have received a criminal conviction which is then very difficult to untangle.

Is there any chance this could have just ‘gone away’?
Chiltern frequently forget about cases and are very sloppy, often fouling the 6 month deadline for prosecution. It’s not in your interests to remind the company of your offending.

But do check spam and all other e mail folders etc. did previous stuff come by post or e mail?
She’s checked e mail folders. The initial contact was a letter but she responded to that via email and got a response that they would respond within 60 days. We’ve just checked and it says not to get in touch again as they’re so busy!

Thanks. I suspect you will hear in due course. As explained they have six months to commence any court action. When was the date she was stopped?

Help from here should be able to avoid court action so ask anything you need to ask.

She was stopped in mid-September. Thank you!
