Coventry to Salisbury avoiding works at Aynho

I need to go from Coventry to Salisbury* on Saturday 9 July at 16.00 or later. Thanks to Evergreen, there's no service between Banbury and Oxford (booking engines are very reluctant to send me that way, although I notice it's not listed in the future engineering works on NRE). Basically that means going via London.

Now I can find some rather fantastically-priced £10.90 advance singles (with railcard) via Euston and Waterloo, rectriction "VWC and connections". But I'll have heavy luggage and rather than using the Tube with its escalators and longitudinal seating and all, I'd prefer to take the Southern service between Watford and Clapham. Is this route permitted under those restrictions (and yes I know advance singles tie me to a train...)?

*okay, strictly speaking, UW campus to Blandford. So Leamington is a possible start point and Bournemouth/Poole/Dorchester a possible endpoint.

Select Kensington Olympia as a via point on the booking engine and you can then get Advance tickets at £10.90 changing at Watford Junction and Clapham Junction. You will have to change again at Woking though.

Not if you catch the xx27 - they all stop at Clapham Junction to pick up only, and are direct to Salisbury

Hmm. I tried that last night and it only gave me the very expensive "Any permitted" ones, but it seems to work now (even if it does also suggest doubling back on the Watford DC from Euston to Willesden, which I didn't think was allowed).

Sadly the Watford–Clapham arrives at xx32... :-x So if I do that my journey time goes north of four and a half hours. If there weren't the engineering works I could do it in 2h40, but that's another matter.
