You've just reminded me -- anyone remember "factory fortnight"? I'm 44 so can't remember it that well, but pretty sure all the local factories used to shut down for two weeks in the summer I think?
Yup - the Leicester holiday fortnight in the first two weeks of July!

Clicking on the clock on the taskbar of my desktop brings up a message saying that the "Clock needs to be updated"... I shall now be using this term to describe the change from BST to GMT and vice versa

All those news headlines in local media that desperately shoehorn in a local connection to a piece of news. ‘Girl whose great aunt’s dog’s chiropodist once spent a weekend in your town shortlisted for prestigious award.’ Does the Acton Gazette eagerly follow the doings of local girl made bad Asma al-Assad?

In this winter weather the often used term ‘had to dig the car out’
No you didn’t, perhaps you had to shovel a bit of snow off the drive, brush snow off the car, but that was it. No way did you have to dig the car out. Maybe if you are in Canada or the Alps maybe, but not here in the UK….. or very rarely.

Got one of those plastic bags for charity, so filled it with old but good stuff. "leave it out after 7am and we'll collect it". Still waiting even after ringing them. From yesterday.

Which is about as truthful as one of those "peel here" labels. Never yet had one collected - what a waste of their, and my time, and the clothes are probably saturated now if water's got in. I would ban this practice - not least as it's adding extra plastic bags to the world. Couldn't they come round in van like the old rag'n'bone man and if we have anything we can give it to them immediately (maybe they could give everyone notice on local social media??).

If I leave scrap metal out it's gone in a flash...!!

Why people have to stand so close to an airport luggage carousel, then look at the label on half a dozen different bags before their bag finally comes and they lift it off but then stand there with the bag awaiting their other half’s bag.

Is it really so difficult to stand back behind the line?
Related to this, the army of people who standup on the plane in the aisles when the seatbelt sign is off while they connect the ramp, pull the curtains to let the premium passengers off first. Bonus points for the one person up front who then has the kitchen sink lodged in the overhead which becomes a tug of war plane vs. human before gravity takes it to the floor.

And from waiting patiently and disembar, you see most of the again at immigration or the carousel.

Related to this beware a fellow passenger jaded after a long haul flight who mistakenly gets up and takes your bag from the overhead locker then works their way towards the exit. This happened to me last year and I had to shout down the plane to find out who had it and have the bag passed back down the line to me.

People who, in conversation, start almost every sentence with "obviously..." - especially when what they go on to say is far from obvious!

Feels more like "clickbait" than a genuine contribution to the goodness of this forum.

More of a major thing that irritates me.
Cycled past a local Primary School yesterday at about 2pm. There were parents waiting in their cars to pick up the children. The school kicking out time wasn’t until 3.15pm, still an hour and a quarter away. If they wish to waste 75 minutes of their lives that’s up to them, but what really irritates me is that many spend all that time with the car engines running. Again, if they wish to waste fuel (and money) and that’s their choice, but please don’t pollute the environment outside the school where children, including your own, are in attendance.

In the Towns round here they're on the pavements and double yellow lines (no Blue Badge) as well.

Has anyone mentioned pineapple on pizza yet? Sorry but it's just wrong!

Now a Hawaiian (Ham & Pineapple) is the only Pizza i'll eat. Good job we're not all the same isn't it?

This one amused me a bit, but ultimately I think it's foolish.

Places which refuse to serve food that people want are destined to go out of business.

The late Nico Ladenis was renowned in his time for refusing to serve well-done steaks, and he disappeared from the scene shortly after this. A bit of a prima donna I think.

Me, I order my steaks "blue", but if someone wants them well done, why not? I'm not the biggest fan of pineapple pizza, but I don't hate it, but again why not even if I did? It just sounds like the people selling food here are getting above themselves. I wouldn't use them out of principle, just like I refused to have anything to do with Ladenis.

Just think, if high street curry houses refused to serve Chicken Tikka Masala because it's not authentic, they'd be out of business in a flash. Fortunately most of them realise they need to provide what people want, not what people ought to want.

I see pineapple on a pizza as a nice compliment to the spiciness of the pepperoni and will add tinned pineapple chunks to pizzas that don't have pineapple on them.

A clever way of getting free advertising, as opposed to just excluding pineapple from the menu entirely which most vaguely authentic Italian pizza restaurants do anyway.

Don't buy a pizza that has pineapple on it. Simples! :)

Aren't you one of those "libertarian" types? If I want pineapple on my pizza it's absolutely none of your business, so stick your nose elsewhere! :D

Friday, we treated ourselves from a local "pop-up" wood-fired pizza business.
Topped with smoked chorizo, chillis, dark honey, caramelised red onion and mozzarella.
Sounds weird? Tasted fantastic. :)

So I ban any pizza establishment which doesn't dare to differ. ;)
