I was talking mainly about their other plans mentioned in the videoAll units should be done regardless of what happens next May?

Never say never, but I'd suggest that nationalising Chiltern whilst they're in the middle of preparing to launch the next stage of East West Rail (remember that Oxford - Bicester Village was technically the first stage) would be utterly bonkers.Just found this video about the refurb and Chiltern’s wider plan on YouTube.
It’s an interesting watch, but I’m not exactly sure how much they’ll be able to get done, considering they could be nationalised in May
Exactly, so I'm glad they've decided the keep the Bombarider ones on their 168's.It wouldn’t have made sense to install TrainFX when their full DMU fleet already have the same compatible displays, unlike at Northern where the Bombardier set up was very different to that on 150/155/156/158/323/769 etc.

Conversely they could go ahead and do it and try and claim credit as a demonstration of the newly nationalised railway...even though it's been under construction since 2021.
Yes over-revving in the 3rd coach. It sounded bad even when I went on it last week so not surprising. Still teething issues with aircon and WiFi too. Hopefully the engine fix is not too difficult.A picture on the Class 168/170/171/172 Facebook group (which I can’t link due to it being set to private) shows 168003 has been reduced to three coaches recently due to a defect.
Do you (or anyone else!) know which of the centre cars has been removed please?Yes over-revving in the 3rd coach. It sounded bad even when I went on it last week so not surprising. Still teething issues with aircon and WiFi too. Hopefully the engine fix is not too difficult.

168003 now back as a 4 car.
Any updates on when 168001 is due back? Hopefully not too far off now!
Still at Crewe depot receiving work. It's coming along though.168003 now back as a 4 car.

What’s the latest on 329 ?
Wouldn’t it be a good idea to send it off for refurb as soon as that’s done?Still away being reconfigured to standard diesel-only operation.

The 168/2's are the newest which were built in 2004. Newer external lights, side external PIS screens on every carriage and newer carriage-to-carriage doors.Maybe, but firstly the reconfiguration will take some time and it's not known when it will be complete. Secondly, the 168/3s are planned to be refurbed last as they are the youngest units compared to the rest of the Class 168 fleet.

The 168/3's were built in 2000, and have the older lights, older carriage-to-carriage doors and don't feature the side external PIS screens.
Any updates on 001 or 106?
It would seem that way, however 106 presumably had to get moved up the list because it was damaged.Aren't they doing the /0's first and then moving onto /1's, then /3's and then the newer /2's?
001 still at Crewe depot. Still plenty of work to be done.Any updates on 001 or 106?
Presumably with 106 it would make more sense to refurb it whilst it's stopped for repairs instead of sending it back into service for it to be stopped again later down the lineAren't they doing the /0's first and then moving onto /1's, then /3's and then the newer /2's?

One thing I also did notice on most of Chiltern's 168's is the lights are more of a warmer colour. Just like ScotRail's 170425 and previously Northern's 170476.
Completely missed that the move was happening this morning but 168003 has gone back to Crewe. Any ideas why? It has been out of use for a few weeks now already.
003 went back last week. Is there much left to do on 001? I'd like to think that the driving cars would be done by now at the very least, the middle cars not so much considering how much later they got sent there.I didn't realise 168003 is back at Crewe depot receiving work until I saw it a few times at work this week. Has it been back for long/when did it come back? 168001 is still at Crewe depot also with it's refurbishment work going on. Two of the cars are outside in the yard at the moment so you may see them on a passing train.
