I see it responds with a

504 Gateway Time-out

If their wasn't an advanced warning on the site explaining the move, I think in hindsight it would have been useful.

I appreciate they have probably managed to switch off an old server, where it would have been hosted, by migrating it across.

It's new location is much better, of course.

It's very poor practice to break a link that's contained in the NRCoT. How is the average member of the public supposed to work out where it's moved? Obviously most people don't concern themselves with the Routeing Guide but at the end of the day it's still a contractual document.

The NRCoT should have been updated in advance of the move, and in the meantime a redirect should have been set up.

It's one of a number of broken, missing links and references in the NRCoT that are being addressed. The process of making any change to the NRCoT is currently tortuous (note - this is entirely aside from the actual contents of the NRCoT which I'm well aware is a hotbed of malcontent in its own right).

Given that the 'average' member of the public hasn't a hope of actually being able to interpret the Routeing Guide it's probably a moot point.

Redirecting a few pages that are referenced elsewhere would be effectively free, what a ridiculous place to cut corners

Yes, it was rubbish and annoying. Fortunately I was able find its new location relatively easily, but it sent a message that the owners of the data don’t really care.
All the links I’ve previously provided in response to questions on this forum are now broken thanks to this, too.

I've tried to explain the value of redirects and keeping links working to RDG before, last time they broke dozens of links to the NRCoT PDF.....

Playing slight devil's advocate here, if the old site was on an unsupported server operating system, they may wish to move away from it.

They might also save on have one server less running.

Even if this is all the case, promoting the change in advance would in hindsight have been good

Edit: Actually redirects shouldn't require the old server.

All I get on the National Rail site is a wide blue band across the top and an empty white page: this happens every time I try. On the atoc page I just get a ‘server cannot be found’ notice. Suggestions, please.

The link I posted in post 2 above works for me.
The maps are now even more rubbish than they used to be; in the past more detail could be seen by zooming in but now they just get more and more blurred.
Change your browser, clear your cache, whatever ……

Having looked at what that involves, I think that I won’t risk it as I haven’t got a clue what I need to clear and what not to clear: I will probably manage to shut down something important.

The NRE page just embeds another page: https://rgpp.iblocks.co.uk/reference-data

I've found it easier to just go directly to this page instead.

I just get a blank page.
