Been struggling to buy a post dated rover ticket. Staff input and set the date (9/7) add to basket but as soon as they go to payment it resets to today's date.
Tried at more than one station. GLC staff were aware but had no workaround

I would prefer not to wait till the morning of travel

Any ideas

You can buy this online from the ScotRail website
There may be a charge for delivery, but at least that will save you all the hassle of making a further attempt at another station or on the morning of travel
Personally, place the order on 01 July, and that gives a clear 5 business days for delivery

I had a similar issue trying to buy a Central Scotland Rover at Kirkcaldy. It worked fine until he put the Y-P discount on, then it would not show a price. It only worked when he cancelled it, started again, then put the Y-P discount on at an earlier point in the process. I was buying for travel that day though.

I have vouchers for part payment so online not an option
In that case you can order by phoning ScotRail and sending the vouchers to them, the balance payable by Credit or Debit Card
Send them either recorded or Special delivery (depending on value)
I would suggest you do this ASAP, to allow time for them to receive the vouchers, process them, and get the tickets to you

But why can't the system post date?
You mean predate the date of travel
It can, it just needs to be entered on the system in the correct order
It is a known issue, entering the details in the wrong order results in the date being returned to todays date

If you really need to pay at a station then I suggest revisiting Glasgow Central
Arrive specifically to complete this purchase and do not take "unable to do" as a response, no matter how long it takes
I tend to purchase when they are likely to be quiet; weekday evenings 1 hour before closing time
However, you may want to do this between 10:00 and 12:00 on a weekday, if the same response is given, then go to Glasgow QS, and if met by the same response there, then discuss with the Station Manager

Post date is the correct term. If you pre date a ticket the validity would start before your first day of intended travel?

rail britain has given other good advice though. As a last resort it could be possible to purchase on board a train. guards can accept rail vouchers as part payment. Better to sort out at a station though but no harm in asking a friendly guard.

This is only possible when starting your journey at an unmanned station
Otherwise the request will be refused and a single ticket for the current journey purchased
This is current ScotRail policy

As above, there is no issue when presenting RTV from an unmanned station, athough many ticket issuing staff are known to refuse and advise to purchase the ticket on arrival at the next major station (even though they lose the commission)
