Over Xmas/New Year? Normally always due to engineering work on Wcml.

In 2025 yes, west coast main line getting work done, hope that helps.

There are engineering works taking place between Crewe and Stafford on the 27th, I know that much.

However, how many freight trains will run on the 27th? A handful, I'd guess, and none that start too early.
