Best and Worst Unstaffed Stations

Some of the unstaffed stations up the Furness/Cumbria Coast Line are best described as 'basic', but then I don't suppose they require much more. Still, Roose, Kent's Bank, Nethertown and Braystones stand out as pretty poor.

On the other hand Ravenglass is a good non-staffed station, thanks to the presence of the Eskdale railway station next to it!

Darnall on the Sheffield Midland - Lincoln/Cleethorpes line is shocking and needs to be closed and relocated

Dore is another one but thats due to it only having 1 platform and in both stations cases no RTI screens

for me, any unstaffed stations need good pis in the form of auto announcements and a help point so i can buz, tel controll im there and ask them to let onboard crew no im aoming. re problems with edinburgh park, the problems on that section are due to the ever present bottleneck at haymarket.

Edinburgh Park is good: clean and smart, yet somehow basic and simple despite its size. It was planned to be staffed when the tram reached there, obviosuly that'll never happen now!

Edinburgh Park is staffed during the morning and evening peaks for ticket checks and passenger assistance

Worst - Denton, Reddish South, Gainsborough Central, Cottingley, Whittlesea, Bordesley (has been mentioned before I know)

No unstaffed stations stick out as being particularly good, although I think Barnetby is unstaffed and is fairly smart with C.I.S. etc.

would be Lostock Gralam on the mid-Cheshire line, there's not even a shelter on the Manchester bound platform.

Worst - Sudbury & harrow road.

Best: Adwick - for unstaffed its been done very well, even slightly overdone perhaps (seperate bridges for stairs & wheelchair access, plus a link to the path on the road bridge over the line)

Worst (not including W***field K***gate): Stainforth & Hatfield - Not as decrepit as WK, but not a place I'd like to have to use, it has a bridge and some seats on the platform but its location being well off the main road in a dodgy area seals it.

Adwick is technically staffed by TSY, though I think they can only deal with their own matters (e.g. they can only issue TSY passes and tickets).

I meant actual permanent staffing, such as a booking office.

Worst - Sudbury & harrow road.

Chiltern have mentioned replacing the bench there with flip down seats to stop tramps using it as a bed!

Worst unstaffed - Forget Kirkgate, go to Water Orton and you'll see how its building makes Kirkgate look like Buckingham Palace! I was there today, and inhabitants of the building included spiders, flys and pigeons, all in abundance. The old booking office door wasn't even locked, I think you could have walked in and looked around if you so wished. Furthermore, the paint on the ceiling hung so low that a person over six foot would have to duck in order to avoid it! Guess what LM are getting an email about tonight...
