I really cannot stand Harrogate Town. Jumped up pub team. They think they're our rivals- bless their little cotton socks- and it is infuriating that they always seem to beat us in the league. Not that it's hard, everyone seems to beat us in the league these days. But they go on and on and on about it, like the annoying little kid brother who won't get the hint.

Having a roof on a stadium won't improve the conditions outside, and for large events that is more important.
The improvement of external conditions are a totally different matter and I am assured such matters as you state were not seen as relevant when the project at the Millenium Stadium was envisaged. I suppose the same could be said about the same matter on the tennis show courts at Wimbledon.
So what was your point about covered stadiums? Your words "to ensure play can always take place" suggests it is about the current conditions, but that wouldn't make a difference oif the authorities consider that travelling to a match is too dangerous.
Just think of the days when mist/fog affected matches, matched played in near-blizzard conditions and sodden pitches when the ball stopped dead in a puddle when normally good pitch drainage is overcome.
In reality, the number of times that such events cause postponed or abandoned matches at the top level, it wouldn't be worth the money. At lower levels it is unaffordable.
If you read my original posting on this matter, I specifically made mention of "top level" stadiums. "Millions" in finance and "lower levels" are phrases that do not sit comfortably together in the same sentence.

It's an opinion without any explanation of why it should happen. And it has nothing to do with why Everton v Liverpool has been postponed.
Are you saying that a stadium of vintage age that would not be the stadium of use next season onwards, that is within a red wind warning sign in a coastal area, should have been allowed to have held the match on sentimental terms as been repeatedly cited by the media or were the authorities who made the decision totally correct in terms of public safety?
I am saying that the postponement has absolutely nothing to do with the stadium. Whether the stadium is old or new, roofed or not, the match would be called off because of the public safety implications of today's weather. I hope that's clear enough for you.
