Oh this has put me in a spot. I’ve applied with SW for a shunter role as they didn’t have any trainee drivers up within distance of my home… until now. If I applied for the trainee driver pool I wonder if that would look bad. I’d thoroughly enjoy either job frankly but I’d enjoy driving more, it’s similar in some respects to what I’ve done for the last 17 years (I’m a cabbie)

Anyone ever been in this predicament?

Apply away, plenty have applied for both, it's quite common.
Thank you so much for replying. I’ve just applied. Will complete the online assesment after some sleep :E

Blimey. These adverts have been taken down already. Up for less than 1 day! Anyone else manage to get their application in in time? I’ve just had the email to say I passed the SJT but only the top percentage of pass rates will be progressed due to the high applicant volumes.

Fingers crossed.

I got my application in for Salisbury last night, plus passed the test. Best of luck to all.

Just got an invite to an assessment day on the 6th January - that's happened very quickly!

I passed the online tests but was refused to continue my application due to SWR deeming my travel time which is disappointing because I can indeed commute by rail, car and motorbike in under an hour (I used to work in Woking so I do have experience to the commute first hand)
So back to waiting for another opportunity to apply for a driver role

Good luck to everyone who has been invited for an assessment in Jan. that’s incredibly exciting for you all.

Thanks! I didn't find it as bad as I'd built it up in my head. I practised the group bourdon probably 2 or 3 times a day for a week, and purchased a practice tool for the TEA-Occ that was really helpful - it was faster and with more tones to count so I then found it easier on the day.

Hi there, would it be possible to get the link for the tool you used to prepare for the TEA-Occ?
