If I am right in reading you weren't successful at part of the psychometric testing and literally a week ago , then you cannot retake for 6 months and that's for every company.
great so it's an automatic rejection for this vacancy

Thanks for the heads up.
Hi Intercitybruce

A colleague recently applied for the Trainee Position for Southern, Barnham location. He recieved good news around 2 weeks after the application closing date.

I would expect it to be similar and won't hear until atleast a few weeks after the closing date. Best of luck

You should have been sent practice material which contains all you need for the assessments. The Assessments & Medicals discussion goes into detail of what to expect in the tests. GTR do the assessments in East Croydon or Watford.
Thank you.
They said they will email me details of the assessment day soon.
Someone I know also applied for the same position however after doing the miniscaat they had another email requesting to do it again and the raat?
I'm wondering if perhaps they didn't score high enough?

Has anybody completed the SJT on this and received an update ?

I know sometimes with the SJT you can get an automated response immediately once completed stating that you have made it to the next stage but others you have to wait some time.
I haven’t applied for this bout of jobs but I do have an application with GTR currently for another depot and I didn’t hear anything back after my SJT. I heard back from GTR inviting me to sit a mini SCAAT with the OPC 11 days later. I’m now patiently waiting to hear whether I passed that.

So I think a little wait is normal with GTR. Hope that helps and good luck :)

Thanks for the information Ducatichick and hopefully the wait isn’t to long for you with your update.

And good luck to you also ;)

Hi Everyone,

Please can somebody confirm: Is the initial online test GTR ask you to complete at the end of your Southern trainee drive application a Mini SCAAT or an SJT?

Apparently you get 72 hours to complete it. Also did you find it easy or difficult?

Thank you

Hi Alandev,

It’s a SJT.

It’s like any SJT in terms of the approach that needs to be taken, just remember safety and customer service and you will be fine.

In regards to if it’s difficult or easy , I think naturally everyone finds these different to each other, but just take your time to read the question and I am sure you will be fine.

Good luck ;)

Just as Intercitybruce has described, not much else to add except try not to worry too much about it.

The MiniSCAAT will follow a successful SJT.

Good Luck :)

Do GTR do dbs checks & will this affect any opportunity on getting a driver role
I would be really surprised if they didn’t carry out some form of DBS check but someone else will have to answer this as I’m not in industry. It does state however on the GTR website on the recruitment process flow chart that “we carry out full referencing checks, these could include past employment, police checks and credit checks”.

Hi Henry

That is definitely worth asking as I haven't personally seen this asked before when browsing forum chat.

Yes, at previous GTR interviews for positions and DMI I have been asked:

•When requested will you be able to provide two references?

•Is there anything that you need to inform us which will flag up when completing back ground checks? And if so what would that be?

I don't have any answers to what or if all previous cautions / convictions - types of cautions / convictions would put application in question. It would be a question worth emailing to the recruitment personnel at the bottom of all communications recieved to clarify.

Available depots:
  1. Brighton
  2. Norwood / Selhurst

Good luck! (Closing date for all above depots is Sunday, 8th December)
Hey, I just submitted my application this morning and completed the Train Driver Test- what is the next step?

Best, Josh

UK somewhere, on a train
Surprised these are still up four days before closing... Have applied for London Victoria, let's see what happens!
I love living in a sweet spot between several different depots in London. It's advantageous! XD

I have applied for a trainee train driver position out of Brighton, can anyone give me a rough idea of shifts you would be required to work? Thank you!

Thank you for the info, do you know specific times e.g. 0500-1300 shift etc?

Ok nice- and could we work through the night (2100-0600) as I do shift work on my current job (cabin crew manager) but rarely nights.

Also RE health I have Chronic Myeloid Leukemia so I have to take one pill a day- would tht be a problem on medical grounds?

Cheers!

I can't answer the medical side im afraid but you will work nights.
The medication will be assessed at your medical and a decision made, if there's any side effects these will be considered to see if it would affect you doing the job

Shift wise it’s 3am starts on earlies and 3am finishes and I believe they have a night shunt turn but could be wrong.

If I were you I’d email recruitment re the leukaemia just in case it might be a problem as a new starter to the company

Another Q, after doing the SJT is it an instant pass or fail or do you have to wait a few days?
