We're the cracks not identical to the CAF class 19X and Hitachi IET's and just require an extra plate on the T-bar where the yaw dampers and alike attach to the solebar area?
But I did read that the safety concerns surrounding those cracks were a reason in their withdrawal from service.
How much of a reason though, I have no idea. But if it’s such a deciding factor for TPE, then it begs the question of how much work needs to be done… given that IETs were back out in a matter of day/weeks, it would suggest the issue is slightly more severe.
I can't immagine bio fuels requiring too much work for conversion. The question is what's more cost effective, vinyl to Chiltern livery all the Former TPE locos or convert the current Chiltern locos to be MK5 compatible and only re-Vinyl the former TP locos that are actually required.

Factor in some ex TPE 68s would still need re-vinyling if Chiltern take on all 13 sets of Mk5s.
Also the biofuel experiment might benefit being continued on 68s in freight service (although the relevant 68s would have to be kept on services captive to a particular fuelling point).
I wonder if some of the severity of the TPE Mk5 cracking problem can be put down to TPE not wanting the Mk5s. How much of an issue was/is cracking on the Caledonian Sleeper Mk5s ?.
I should imagine the ex Transpennie locos class 68 at Long Marston x6 , due to being compatible with mk5, will be used in service with the mk5 if and when to Chiltern,
Due to Compatibility as a op mentioned above, its highly likely the ex 68s from Tpex will work with mk5, like before, Dft most likely keen to keep costs down,
Chiltern 68s uses for mk3 are not compatible for M5, anyway, Also as Drs have a few more freight flows anyway ie Tesco for example, and to replace some 37s and 57s now gone, for freight the ex Chiltern silver set mk3 class 68s used on these would be great.
For extra loco capacity to Drs.
But that would mean Chiltern may lose their biofuel locos, which whilst not overly important in terms of providing service, is disheartening considering the push towards green initiatives.
I understand the 68s required no modification work to run on biofuel, which would tally with most diesel road vehicles that use it. On the same basis I expect the only change would be to the maintenance, which is probably mostly more frequent attention to the filters.

That’s inline with my assumption, but I’m no expert; so didn’t want to look naive!
But it’s certainly reassuring to know and at least makes being somewhat greener, slightly easier.

Set TP01 must have been debranded on site at Wolverton, unlike the others , being done at, Long Marston, maybe TP01 has had all handback work done to it at Wolverton
Also it's possible TP01, might go, straight to Long Marston for Storage from Wolverton. Rather than going back to Longsight for final handback checks ??.

Does anyone know if either 68026 or 68027, moved to Leicester LIP in September I believe, have been accepted by Europhoenix yet? Last I heard there was some sort of paperwork glitch with them and they were split between Leicester LIP and Loughborough Brush awaiting work
